I was at Kings Cross yesterday as the Mackams were arriving. Loads of 'em.

I thought how good it would be for them to return to Division 2. But then, having enjoyed their spirit, I thought 'nah, it's little Wycombe for me'.

To many of us oldies it seems incredible to have these two teams competing for promotion from the third tier to the second. Sunderland vs. Wycombe still sounds to me like it should be ine of the most anticipated fixtures in the 3rd. round of the cup, with everybody getting excited at the prospect of a massive giant-killing!

I've got some time this weekend so may take a nerdy look.

Next season could be:

Derby County
Sunderland
Ipswich Town (who I have no pleasure seeing in Div 3)
Bolton Wanderers
Coventry City

All in the same league.

Add MASSIVE (being kind) and Charlton Athletic + even potentially Pompey.

I'm wondering if they were all together in Div 1 in the last 25 years. I'll take a look.

EDIT: Since 2000, all eight have been in Div 1, as many as five at any one time.

Hoops in the ref. So I say it will be plucky Bournemouth that win.

Oh dear David Stockdale!

At least it’s wasn’t Pritchard, I suppose.
