Hang on, does that mean seeding so bigger sides can't face each other early on?

:ffsparr:

Makes sense from the point of view of lower league teams who are more likely to benefit from a lucrative match day.

But for medium sized clubs like us, it just significantly reduces our chances of winning it.

Whatever though. Orient at home please.

It’s because the round clashes with European games, so they can’t have someone in the Champions League drawn against someone in the Europa League.
It’s rubbish, but slightly better than giving them another bye. At least there’s a very small amount of jeopardy for them.

There is some logic.

The next round of the Cowabunga cup takes place either W/C 9th or 16th September. There are also Europa and Champions League ties in the same week(s). Should the wrong teams draw each other, they potentially could not play in the League cup window due to European commitments.

As Chelsea are involved in the Noddy Europa cup, they have an open draw as they aren't playing any games.

Ah, makes sense then.

Barrow away would be a loyalty test, I'd personally settle for Wycombe away

But surely they will still have the European Commitments anyway? Why would it matter who they drew??

It certaiknly would, brings back memories of long never ending coach trips to Hartlepool and Carlisle for midweek evening games back in the day, getting back home just in time for breakfast.

Almost like there's just too much football at the top level nowadays.

If we get a home draw then we’ll have three home games in eight days. The only home games between 27th August and 6th October.
And the week I am away on holiday - 🤬

If we get one of the Champions League teams we will play the third round game on either the 24/25th of September so would be 3 home games in 12 days if we are drawn to play at the Amex.
