League Cup 1st Round Draw...

Maybe I'm being thick, but why are Sunderland in this round, but not Hull or Middlesbrough? Or have I missed them?

I think it is usually something to do with making sure the rounds even up later (teams in Europe don't join until round 3) - Sunderland would have been the lowest placed club and so would probably have to join the draw to ensure the numbers even up (don't know)
