He's not trying to be cool, he's a site engineer who is taking levels on site through an instrument. To do that he needs to turn his hat around so the 'peak' doesnt get in the way. simple

What utter bollocks.

Try getting the right helmet!

"Whenever possible, the safety helmet should not hinder the work being done. For example, an industrial safety helmet with little or no peak is useful for a surveyor taking measurements."

Also see here:
HEAD PROTECTION

"wear the helmet the right way round - it affords little or no protection when worn back to front. Safety comes before fashion"

You sound like a health and safety nazi. What does it matter to you if it's back to front?

Anyone can see that it will still protect the top and back of your head if it's back to front, it just leaves your face a bit open.

Read the last paragraph of my post again.

It doesn't matter to me specifically. It just irritates me that site workers have such a blasé attitude to their own safety.

Are you REALLY irritated? Or just "irritated" in a keyboard sense?

Really irritated, sadly.

I visit a lot of building sites and find it incredible that people think so little about safety - particularly their own. This doesn't apply to the majority, but a sizeable minority, sadly.

I once had to deal with a skill saw accident where a bloke had cut through his boot into his leg. The safety guard on the saw was clearly broken, but he'd chosen to ignore the fact. :dunce:

...and did the HSE undertake an enquiry that found it must be a design related issue??????
