Latest REMF Donation

Evening all,
Just a quick update about what our latest donation is for.
The committee felt that it was only fair, after the huge success of the last REMF match, that the Crystal Palace guys benefit from something for all the time and money that those guys give.
So as a result, we are donating £6000 to the CPFC foundation for their Powerchair team so they are able to purchase a new Powerchair to help with their disabled players.
I'm sure you will all agree this is a worthy cause and well justified.
Thank you to everyone that's helps make this possible! We can't do it without you!

Fantastic gesture. Well done all. I really need to get along to one of those Powerchair matches to see them in action. The Albion Podcast with the Albion Powerchair captain Matt Francis and team-mate Jadey Yesilada is a must-listen on how much it means to them. And they are bloody good at it too. A credit to the club.

A BHAFC V CPFC supporters Power Chair game is on he agenda. The donation of £ 6000 for this will make a massive difference to them and it is recognition of the fantastic work the CPFC supporters have put into the REMF since 2001

Before the REMF match this year, the Albion and Palace Powerchair teams had a friendly 'match'.

What was evident was the the Albion were streets ahead of the Palace team. The Albion team had been together a while, AITC had been supporting them, they had the equipment, and in Matt Francis a genuinely lovely, enthusiastic fella who was / is the heartbeat of the team. It seemed that Palace were just starting out on this road.

The 'match' such as it was, ended up being more of a kickabout ('pushabout'?, 'knockabout'?), and because of numbers, Brighton players would occasionally swap sides. The result, immaterially, was 8-0 to Brighton, and if it had been taken seriously, would have been 20-0.

We wish the Palace Powerchair team all the best, and this wonderful donation from REMF will only help them.

Incidentally, this coming Wednesday (5 July), it's the Julie Hodder Cup. Julie Hodder was the sister of Steve Darby, a larger than life Brighton fan that many on here know. Julie sadly passed away from breast cancer a few years ago way too young, so Steve and AITC banged their heads together and came up with notion of the Julie Hodder Cup - a powerchair tournament held a Brighton University Sports Hall each year. The BHA PFC team put in a couple of teams, and AITC corporate supporters enter a couple of teams in the 'manual' wheelchair matches. Guy Butters and Danny Cullip often turn up. Danny wrecks the equipment, while Guy gets the cigars out at the back, and much money is raised for AITC and Chailey Heritage.

Do pop along and support them if you're in the vicinity.

It is precisely for these reasons that I cannot find it to 'hate' Crystal Palace. They are great rivals lets be honest. the fact that between the two clubs so much money has been raised and lives genuinely changed says a lot about the two sets of fans.

Even most the 'abuse' they dish out on Twitter is amusing.
