Sad to admit, as we went in different directions musically :), but he was my best mate before I went into the services. At 13 he was banging the Autumn girl from the Daily Sketch, which was quite impressive. Havnt seen him for decades now though.

The Daily Mail, as usual, failed to note the deeper points of the story. Namely that he volunteered his services.

I'm no fan of his, but I had respect for what he was doing and, if ever it were possible, even less respect for that rag of a newspaper.
