Quite. Well, it's not even shit-stirring, it's actually pisspoor writing.

I mean the piece of text that says 'I assume discussions are already under way about a new deal for the Seagulls' increasingly influential skipper Dean Hammond (if they are not they should be)' is about as close to NSC-style reporting as you can get. Either he knows or he doesn't. Instead, he 'assumes'. f*** sake - that is shabby.

'Giving Michel Kuipers the option of staying for an extra year if he so wishes is much harder to understand and is bound to lead to more ribbing from his team-mates about being a favourite of chairman Dick Knight.' Actually, it's piss-easy to understand why Kuipers has that sort of contract. And he knows that the kids know that he is Dick's golden boy and they tease him for it? I wouldn't fancy crossing Michel on that score. Incidentally, Wendy is more than happy to have Kuipers in goal, and isn't necessarily going to have him as second-choice keeper.

Besides which, is it worth getting your knickers in a twist over something so far away? What pickle is it that the Albion have got themselves into? I mean, so what if 23 players are turfed out at the end of the season...

I really hope you are right about Wendy's assessment of the mighty FDM... I still don't undertsand why a keeper is a priority for new signings... must make Sullivan wonder where his future lies...

saaf of the water
but in classic NSC style, you're going to have to wait for a few days.

Aww, you sound more like DTG every day!

And yes, it's a crap piece of writing.

Normally I don't slag Naylor off - most of his pieces I respect - he is not an Albion fan like us, and he writes what he sees (on the pitch)

It's his reporting of off field / behind the scenes activities that are simply piss poor.

A new goalie's not a priority in the sense that FDM isn't good enough - Wendy just likes healthy competition for EVERY position.

And what about Sullivan?

It's a COMMENT from Naylor (tw@t)... why is everyone getting so angry about it?

Have to agree TLO
This really is an example of PISS POOR reporting. Is this supposed to be an example of "shooting from the lip", or has Andy run this off following a couple of Beaters down the local ? f*** me, if this is the standard of journalism accepted by local rags, I've followed the wrong career.

You have definately followed the wrong career.

I can just imagine what some of your articles would be like

He probably also wants a third Goalie as cover so he doesn't have to find one on loan should injuries occur, thus enabling him to use up his loan options on outfield players. Could be complete bollocks, but thought I'd say it anyway !

Fair enough, TLO and Wanderer... it's just that Sullivan is getting to the age where he is either gonna make it or he isn't, IMHO...

...The mushrooming began 18 months ago, when no fewer than ten youngsters were taken on, the majority for more than a year. Of those, only Joel Lynch and Dean Cox have established themselves as first team regulars.
So is this an admittance that it was McGhee's fault, or am I the only one to notice this line.

I'm guessing finding a Golfing Partner must be very difficult for someone who sits in all day wanking over pictures of an ex-manager.

Well if Naylor can get away with this kind of claptrap, the door is clearly open to anyone. I\'d love to be chief sportswriter for the Argus (just don\'t expect too many facts to get in the way, when complete and utter fiction is so much more FUN).

So who are the 7? Jakey, Alex Revell (just been extended to 2009) Lynch, Cox, Forster, Whing?? I thought Hammond had but it seems his is under discussion.
Gatting.

This article is indeed bollocks but I do hope we are going to address Hammond's contract soon.

I wonder who has the largest manboobs on NSC though, Aids, TLO, Sir Peter of Canning, or Ernest?

Perhaps I could stake a claim.
An added attraction is that when aroused or engorged, the creases of skin in my left areola often hold a passing resemblance to the late Sid James, when viewed from a certain angle.

Naylor makes a valid point in that if the season starts to go tits up the players could decide to bail out en masse and not perform in the latter stages, which could result in relegation.

That is definitely a worst-case scenario. In practice, getting good players to commit to anything longer than 2 years whilst the club is in limbo over Falmer is difficult. Similarly, the better players will want big wages to commit for 3 years plus and the club finances cannot guarantee this.

Therefore, if deals of 2 years or less are normally what is offered and you have a squad of 30 players then you're going to have 20-odd out of contract next season.

I would have thought the bigger story would be more reaction / insight to the Falmer delay announcement.

Just added my 2-pennyworth to the comments in the Argus:

This comment box that I'm typing in has a box above it that states 'type what you see'. Well....

I see a sports writer scrabbling around on a quiet day with nothing to write about so he puts together this sorry excuse for an article. Shock horror, youngsters taken on and most don't make the grade. Well, Andy...that's never happened at any other club before has it?

I think the one telling comment in here is the one where you state "I assume discussions are under way..." All this tells us is that Naylor knows as much as me about the current contract plans, which is bugger all.

Perhaps your boss ought to look at your contract, Andy. You're currently out your depth writing for a small provincial daily. Time you got loaned out to St Nicholas Church quarterly parish newsletter. You're the journalistic equivalent of Chris McPhee

Naylor is a nobber.

And El Pres has raised a very good point. Who does have the largest manboobs on NSC?

...and you know what's worse than manboobs? Lactating manboobs. That's what.

He does, but people on here find it more fun to slag off everything Naylor says.

I really dont see what is wrong with what he has written, its not like its untrue is it?

For a club that has a tight budget the squad is huge, even more so for this league - I doubt many have larger, Correct me if im wrong.
Yes there are a number of Young players but they are still going to be paid.

It's a COMMENT from Naylor (tw@t)... why is everyone getting so angry about it?
Because he is a reporter who is not supposed to ASSUME but is SUPPOSED to REPORT FACTS!

But surely he is able to just pick up the phone and ask either DK, MP or DW directly if discussiions are taking palce. I mean he must have their numbers mustn't he???????
