he should go get f***ed. we are no ones second team.

where did he say this?

Football Focus on Saturday.

Mark Lawrenson gave him a look suggesting that he thought Keown had escaped from the nearest loony bin.

Hahaa, in that case I think we should definitely all adopt Leeds as our second team just to piss you off.

Because I've always quite admired them anyway - hugely-respected in many ways: fans always take defeat in good grace, exemplary and genial visiting supporters, well-run family club, never had any crooks in the boardroom, the true corinthianism of Dennis Wise etc etc.

nah you are either leeds or you aren't. just as you are either brighton or you aren't. none of this i am a leeds fan, but i like bury. or i am a brighton fan but i like exeter. how can you have a second team. you support someone or not. not support one team 85% and the other 15% leeds united first, leeds reserves next, leeds ladies...

ah well.

I'm with Starry {Paddy?} on that. I've never had a 'second team'. I just don't get it. Over the last few seasons I've seen 20 odd games at St.Mary's as I got free tickets from work. I'd want Saints to win, for the sake of my Saints supporting mates, but if they didn't it's not like I'd care. Why would I?

I've sat and thought [quite a lot in the early 90's!] about whether I could adopt another team if the worst happened to the Albion, and I can't see that I could. Possibly if it were a local non-league team [Eastleigh in my case] then just possibly.

its paddy. i have actually made my own username up waltzing masinga but never remember to log the mrs out.

i completely agree with you. i've thought to myself if leeds united suddenly ceased to exist what would i do? i know i could never feel about brighton, scunthorpe, newcastle or anyone the same way i do about leeds. i guess it'd be the end of football as it's been for us and we'd concentrate more on the american football league here or something. i dunno. i often go and watch other teams because we get given tickets or as someone's guest or whatever but unlike a leeds game where i'm only interested in where the ball is on the pitch or what beckford is doing, i spend 90 minutes admiring the surroundings and daydreaming with just the cursory glance at the pitch.

hope you and yours had a good christmas, hkfc.

Yes, thanks mate.

It would have been a little bit better, mind, but for events at Millwall and Yeovil!

It will be interesting if Leeds do not go up this coming year.

Yes, they have done remarkably well in pulling back the -15 points, but they certainly have not rolled teams over the way they should have ( apart from Huddersfield ...) and quite a proportion of wins have come in the last minute.

Luck does come in cycles and as Swansea and Carlisle have shown ( and we nearly did) they are not infallable.

I think Leeds think it is imperative they go up this year and it would not surprise me if Bates whole business plan for the next few years is based on an immediate bounce back to the Second Division.

If they dont make it then I think Wise will be unceremoniously given the boot!

They are probably bargaining on going straight back up, much in the way that Sunderland and Man City did when relegated into this division. The penalty for failing to do so is to end up becoming another Preston, Blackpool, Burnley and spending the majority of your life in the lower couple of divisions after being a big club.

To be honest, I have a bit of a soft spot for Leeds.

It's all over the ground of the local horse stables.

100% Agreed. If I have a second team it's Brighton Reserves. I enjoy going to watch other teams, and I enjoy watching the Premiership on the Telly, or if I get a chance to go and watch live. But there is no other second team, ever, that I will "support".

Yeah, I always look for the results of my friends teams, crawley and lewes... but I can't say I support them like I support the Albion.

I enjoy watching the prem on the telly and usually cheer for a team in my living room (usually the one thats part of my accumilator).

The question you have got to ask yourself is this, if for some horrible reason BHA died tomorrow... would you move onto another team or support an AFC Brighton should one form?
