Not gonna be to most people's tastes, I expect, but I've been getting progressively more addicted to Zeal & Ardor's album Stranger Fruits over the past week. They combine metal with slavery-era music, and it works much better than you're probably expecting. The basic premise behind the band's sound is, according to this interview, "What if American slaves had embraced Satan instead of Jesus".

If that doesn't sound interesting to you, you probably won't like this. But if it does, give it a go.
