Enjoying Unknown Mortal Orchestras album but not as much as the last one they did. Quite different styles of music and the latest is a bit more poppy in my opinion.
Thanks to you Tarpon, we went to the gig last night. What a fantastic show, she is back to her best. Essentially acoustic trio format format playing ' deeper cuts' i.e. A best of selection. Looking great, singinging great, lost a little weight and clearly comfortable with herself following the traumas of losing her father, divorce and illness. One of the best shows I've seen in recent years including 'This Shirt' from the afore-mentioned album and the classics with a bit of 'show and tell' such as Passionate Kisses, Shut up and Kiss Me through to Ashes and Roses. NSC at it's best letting me know about a great gig I would have missed - Bexhill for gods sake.
May I return the compliment with the tip that the mighty Ron Sexsmith is playing The Komedia in October. I'll be there.
P.S. Posting was about the Mary Chapin Carpenter gig!
Nice one! I could not go and had a feeling I might regret missing it. I've never seen Ron so will have to investigate further - cheers. Also, if you have not done so already, have a listen to Jason Isbell's latest ('Something more than free') as he plays Brighton in Jan & I think will be v decent indeed.
Why thank you for the nudge. Have been meaning to listen that, so I'll make the effort. Also fancying a little festive cheer with Kate Rusby at the Dome this year.
P.S Enjoyed the pre gig music too- Picken'n on Led Zep. Blugrass covers of Led Zep such as Kashmir, Ramble On, Rock and Roll. Imagine that if you can!
