Every bone in my body is aching today and bruising is starting to appear.

That's all the self-pity out of the way. I just need some good quality sleep and the world will feel a better place. I don't know how I'll get that in the next few days though.
If you can, try going out for a gentle walk. It will help to ease the aching muscles if it is gentle, and exercise will help you to get tired. Sleep will come naturally but give it time.

Read a favourite book in bed, and it doesn't matter if you don't sleep, as getting anxious about sleeping will make it worse.
Just resting and reading will help.

I took the whole of January off from NSC. After a few days, you do forget about forums. I don't know if it was a good or a bad idea. The level of support for me on this thread has been mind-blowing and I appreciate everyone's good wishes immensely. I don't drink or take drugs anymore so I won't be going down that route.

If I'm off for a while I don't want people to think I'm being rude by not thanking them for their heartfelt wishes but there is so much to sort out that I might take some time off from here.
Look after yourself, but use the NSC community when you need to. We're all (well, the VAST majority of us) are all rooting for you.

They do say a wank from the hand is worth two in the bush …….. or something like that
The stress is going to make sex very, very difficult with my girlfriend for quite a while. She's been comforting me tonight. I wanted to shield her from all of this but she was so angry and hurt that I didn't tell her for 48 hours. Just loads of cuddles for a few days, I can't w**k because of the cuts and bruises on my hands but she's got a couple of very good vibrators! :giggle:

I've decided to stay on NSC but I probably won't be on quite as much as I was last year. I want to say sorry for earlier - it was a crass comment made under the severest stress about wanting to be in heaven. I hope I didn't upset anyone.

Thanks once again for the incredible kindness shown by everyone on here. I love you all. ❤

That sounds like you're going to be OK !

One thing I was going to mention, is Vitamin B, timed release, available from Holland and Barrett. I swear by them. I found they remove or at least take the edge off the stress, to the extent that at work, I wasn't even aware of the underlying problem (a hernia).

Best wishes to you.

Got hit up the arse in a three tonne truck by a young guy doing 60-70mph on a major A road. It was enough to send me hurtling, out of control, towards the middle intersection. It wasn't the standard metal barrier but a concrete wall. Everything seemed to slow down and in the split seconds before I hit the wall I said to myself that I was going to die.
Instinctively, I swung hard right just before impact, side swiped the wall, careered back across traffic and ended up on the nearside, in a mess and many yards down the road, semi wrecked and smoking. I caught a glimpse of the other car in my wing mirror, also wrecked and smoking and off the road on the nearside. It all happened so quickly that it is difficult to estimate the time it all took, particularly as everything slowed right down immediately before impact.
He had been texting on his phone, telling his father he had picked up the fireworks. They were in his boot along with gas cylinders!!! He was driving a bomb and not watching the road. The fire brigade went mental when they arrived.
For a few weeks after, when driving, I kept waiting for someone to hit me up the arse. Even in a truck, the noise of impact was really loud. ( God knows the noise had his boot exploded !!! ) Gradually it passed and normality returned. It takes a bit of time but it does mend.

I've been rear ended twice, oo err . . . once I was stationary and 50mph BANG. . . Wrote the car off, damaged 6 in a line. Bit sore after that. Another time Mr Kipling did my 1600E . . .I was livid but unhurt, livid because my lovely car got smashed, but I was also on the way to Withdean for kickball.

had a few very close ones racing where other people lost it in front of me . . . I spun a Porsche 356 at 85 mph at LeMans, and had a wheel snap off mid corner at Goodwood doing 80. Amazingly got away with both . . .

Excuse the bounce, @Durlston , how you getting on?
In case you think he's being rude, I'll answer on his behalf as he's giving NSC a rest for a while. I'm sure he won't mind.
I've been communicating with him via PM's and can tell you that he's on his way to getting better, but he's still got a way to go.

At around 6pm last night, by Penland Road in Haywards Heath, my car overturned twice and by some miracle I only suffered minor injuries. I keep having flashbacks and panic attacks caused by it. I really thought my number was up and ready to meet my maker. I could smell burning and it was only with the help of medical teams, that I was able to get out, as my foot was trapped. I was hysterical as I thought my car was going to explode.

I got taken to the Royal Sussex County hospital and was discharged very late last night. There's a picture on the Sussex Roads twitter page of the upturned vehicle.

I'm still very shaken up. Just those extra few seconds in a situation like that with an oncoming vehicle can be the difference between surviving and dying.

Has anyone else completely written off their car or had such a scary experience on the roads? Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

All the best.

Durlston.

Time to take about a half hour just to think about the benefits & life awards you have and that you were definitely meant to stay alive. This is one way life teaches to so appreciate what we do have and how it could be taken away so easily.

I'm getting better mate. The emotional punch has floored me for a while though. @Jack Straw has kept me sane. 🙏

I would like to sincerely thank every single poster on here who has wished me a complete recovery. I've got amazing professional help in counselling and I honestly believe I'm through the worst of the trauma.

Love to everyone on here. 🥰
