Is it worth while hiring a car for a day and driving from Vegas to the Grand Canyon? It looks quite far!
Any tips/advice would be appreciated, on Vegas and other surrounding attractions.
Thank you

It's a longish drive, would recommend a least one overnight stop at or near the Grand Canyon.

Make sure you do a flight over it as well, budget permitting.

Early morning or late afternoon is best to catch the sunrise/sunset. Spectacular!

Distance: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon 277 miles

Did it by helicopter from Las Vegas Airpoprt, you actually get to land down in the Canyon right next to the Colorado river, breathtaking views.

What he said. Picked up from hotel in an air conditioned bus, 15 mins drive to a small airport and then a breathtaking low flight over the damn and through the canyon.

Awesome and all for about £60 each

Highly recommend the stop of in the valley  well worth the money

Bones if you having a beer in a bar/casino and a really good looking bird cracks on to you, be aware, a verbal invoice won't be far behind.

We drove from vegas to the grand canyon and back in a day, I would recommend camping at the canyon if you can as it would be awesome to see if after the tourists have gone home, sunrise and sunset etc.

Death valley is worth driving through on the way to Yosemite national park which is amazing

Scenic airlines do a good job if you dont fancy the drive...

Blimey, are they still going? [old]I did that trip 28 years ago.[/old]

Absolutely worth it though.

Hot tip: If you go this way, and eat a giant chocolate sundae for breakfast at Las Vegas airport before you board, keep the sick bag handy for when the turbulence around the lip of the canyon starts to buffet the plane....
