Are you actually suggesting that you would kill a Police officer given the chance?
Or
Is it a call to others to do so?
Or
Just a bit of rabble rousing?

Please tell me you're just playing dumb ?

Historically you have a point but in 2021 living in England we have some of the most lenient laws in the world , and the most laid back police force compared to many other countries ,hardly anything to get worked up about .

All the more reason to protect such things from authoritarian law makers.

I’m getting some strong “first they came for the socialists...” vibes on this thread. I find is quite disturbing how little some people care about the prospect of a fundamental human right being taken away. It’s the quintessential “I’m alright Jack” mentality that those in power rely on to shift us ever closer to some sort of Orwellian nightmare.

I do remember though kill the bill was a chant aimed at the police ( maybe the 70s )

Wow. No wonder you misunderstood. That was also about a bill, not against The Old Bill

Always one smartarse.

You get the point, people are ignorant until it affects them.

Not sure you need to be a smart arse to point out the obvious !!

The right to protest is great !! The right to protest in "Covid Lockdown" and the right to abuse and attack police and their vehicles. Absolutely not !!

Historically you certainly have a point but in 2021 when the tolerance level is so strict you get reprimanded for not understanding binary isn’t only about computers there isn’t really many good reasons to bother yourself to go on a march not in England anyway . Some other countries , yes but mostly non European ones but not here . I don’t think some people realise how lucky we are .

Subtle .... I'll give that. So you mean countries with non-white people ?

Well apart from world wars ( I’m an ex servicemen before you use that one) in the last 100 years what has been successfully protested that changed the world that I live in , genuine question and happy to be educated[emoji106]

But isn't this because you see others protesting "on your behalf"?
And if there was something you cared strongly about yet nobody protested about it? Might you get aroused and onto the streets then?

I see where you're coming from because I can't be arsed about anything but I'm glad there are some out there who are.

I’m not sure anyone has the time but if you listed every protest in the last 100 years in the country it’s likely I wouldn’t be that bothered, and I’ll give you a good example, Im a well known Brexit voter in the Pit, if the government announced they were changing there mind, would I join in any protests, no I’d take it on the chin and crack on[emoji106]

I made a facetious post early on in this thread. My thinking was that close gatherings of people violating the social distancing and mask wearing advice is idiotic. I just checked the Argus pages (the only place not behind a paywall where I can see pics) and yep, the pictures show a melee, most in masks but many not. There is also a 'defund the police' banner. I understand what this means in the states, where the police are armed to the teeth at great expense, and agree with the campaign, but in the UK? Nah! How to sabotage a good cause by acting like dicks? Tick.

I agree with [MENTION=12935]GT49er[/MENTION] about the statements in the bill about giving the police the right to wade in if someone reports they are 'seriously annoyed or inconvenienced' by the sight of the great unwashed gathering on the steets. That's bollocks. However....

However, it would have looked much better and had far greater wider traction if the throng had all worn masks and kept socially distanced. Unfortunately, having known agit prop types in my former life, there is a cohort that treat a protest rather like some folk treat a football match - a chance to get off one's tits, and go ****ing mental. Fact.

The difference being that your life could arguably be better if Brexit was cancelled (whether you cared to admit it or not) but it’s hard to “crack on” when you’re at the wrong end of sexism and misogyny, racism and homophobia, all of which have been protested over the last century and ultimately improved the lives of those effected.

All those posts and you'd just "take it on the chin"?

Why do you bother with the Pit posts then?

I get protesting against the bill that makes sense and should be supported but why are they so anti police? The angst shoud be focused on government particularly the Home Office but many protesters seem more than happy to just take it out on the police.
This ends up losing focus on the real problem and losing the support of the masses. Still gets a good selfie on Instagram or Facebook.

Let’s not turn this into a you know what eh [emoji106] I wouldn’t have been that bothered back in 2016 if it had gone the other way.
