Basically, I have an HP Compaq 6720s (similar to this one Hewlett Packard Compaq 6720s PC Notebook on eBay, also, Laptops, Computing (end time 02-Nov-08 15:59:38 GMT)) with the following spec....

Memory RAM 1015 MB
System Type - 32 Bit operating system
Windows Experience Index - 2.0
CPU - Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 530 @ 1.73GHz
CPU Speed - 1.73 GHz
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, 32-bit (Build 6000)
DVD - MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-861H ATA Device
Free Disk Space - 12.0 GB

I need to speed it up a bit, as it's fairly slow when running games. I'm going to buy the new Football Manager game, which needs the following requirements as a mimimum (Processor Speed - Vista - 2.0GHz, XP - 1.4GHz Memory - Vista - 1GB, XP - 512MB Videocard - 128MB Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra, ATI Radeon 9800, Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater).

How do I go about speeding it up? I've heard about adding extra memory, but I've never tried it before....

Though adding extra memory will speed it up, it will still only be running at 1.73GHz. That means you will need to overclock the processor. It is only a little overclock but I have never tried a laptop. I would be concerned that the extra heat will have no where to go.

Cheers Wardy - I'm new to laptops, so never thought of trying this... Seems to be possible if I tag on another cooling fan...
