According to radio 5 live about 10 minutes ago. Headline was "another manager on aston villas short list has ruled themselves out" Lambert said he never said he wanted to leave Norwich; he is happy and has a job to do and all the people speculating are simply trouble makers.

There must be a reason all these guys are turning it down, I am not worried at all.

Financially they are screwed and the lack of a transfer kitty and having to reduce the wage bill at a struggling club is not too appealing for young managers looking to make the next step in their careers

Simon Grayson.
I saw he'd appeared in the odds yesterday, very strange. Would be another poor appointment by Villa if it happened. Also would probably mean another round of Gus speculation during the seasoon, if we are having a good one.

I am amazed that clubs are sacking managers without getting replacements lined up. Shows how arrogant some of them are that they think they can get who they like, just because they are a "big" name.

Perhaps bigger clubs are starting to find out that younger, decent managers would rather stick with what they have got, rather than gamble their career on joining a club that will sack them after 6 months if they are not performing to (usually unrealistic) expectations. I do hope Martinez turns down Liverpool.

On the other hand, a club is seen as being underhand and undermining the current boss - if behind the scenes they are interviewing possible replacements

Not convinced by Lamberts comments, he hasn't actually said he doesn't want it, could simply be a smoke screen to put his value up?

That's true but it probably still beats looking like a shambles as Wolves did, and Villa are beginning to. Maybe it's just the media attention making it impossible to keep anything quiet so everything is done in public and every day you don't have a manager you look more clueless. Compare to west Brom who have gone totally under the radar so far.

Does have similarities to another club in the Midlands finding a manager earlier on in the year - its all being done in the public eye and they have been rejected by 2 managers now.

What silent Bob said, there must be a reason I thought Solskjaer had approched them about the job must be a reason people are ruling themselves out

I'm very worried about Villa coming after Gus. I really hope they hurry up and appoint someone soon. They are big enough to be very tempting for Poyet, and yet have struggled enough lately that they will struggle to get some of the bigger names than Gus.
