Apparently,I have heard from Norwich mate that Lambert has not actually gone. He is just angry at the board. He is talking to the Norwich board today. Ironically the manager of Nantes resigned today.Nantes are the French Canaries.

It's a bit strange that the NFC website still havent announced it.

Certainly we didn't want to sell Bennett, and he was not in anyway available for transfer or advertised as available for sale. Norwich came in and 'stole him away' with an unwelcome approach ( from the albions perpective ) and whispers of a big salary in his ear.

In the same way we stole Buckley, Hoskins etc?

excellent post, totally realistic imho.

Us fans were there before and we'll still be here, football employees come and go.

If Gus is thinking about this, he'd be aware that if he was to fall into the 75% chance he won't get promoted next season, 1 year from now he could well be in exactly the same position without the PL job offers.

right now he's hot and in demand. next year who knows? these PL opportunities are not guaranteed indefinitely. He'd be crazy to not give it serious consideration.

True ... easy question he has to ask himself ."Am I more likely to get Brighton promoted or avoid Swansea/Norwich/Whoever getting relegated?" No brainer for me and good luck to him if he goes (whenever or wherever that is) it would be a career move pure and simple

Every player has their price and they met our valuation of him. That's not doing anything wrong.

Its strange with all the Gus talk and rumours of Karl robinson in the frame etc , but nobody has mentioned Chris Powell of Charlton getting poached .

i think it is easier than Liverpool, expectations are so low in Villa that he'll get time, mid table will be an improvement. Rodgers won't get that luxury

Villa is arguably the most attractive job that's come up in the Premier League for a long time, particularly for a lower-league manager, because they have been run into the ground by McLeish and it will be quite difficult to do much worse.

Even a bit of basic organisation/motivation and a couple of half-decent signings to ginger things up should make them about 15 points better next year, which would put them in the top half. A bit of good fortune here and there and it could be even more, and suddenly the bloke in charge looks like a genius when all he's really done is apply a bit of experience and common sense to a group of players who were crying out for it.

Spot on. And all these people looking for a manager will be getting twitchy about one of the others getting their man. You can easily see an auction situation developing for Gus (or someone else) if they all woke up this morning thinking 'We can't let Villa/West Brom/Swansea/maybe Norwich get him first'. I'm not sure we'd gain from that, because there would be a standard compensation clause (or payment of contract in full), but it wouldn't do his wage and budget demands any harm.

Charlton will be in the same league as us next year with bigger attendances and potentially more spending power so why would Chris Powell come here? He is also former Charlton player so there's that. And he's Palace scum.

Don't think you can have read past the first line. I'm inclined to think he will stay, but only because someone else will get there first. Would happily take the bet if he got a proper offer from either of those, since your suggestion was that he wouldn't consider it "in a million years", which is the bit I think is blinkered. Not that there's anything wrong with that when you're a fan, it's just that it can lead to bitter disappointment.

Yes fair enough. I'm also no longer as confident having heard an Express journalist (yes I know!) just interviewed on Talksport who happens to be a big Norwich fan saying they're breaking a story tomorrow. In the Talkshite interview the only two managers the presenters named as potential candidates to replace Lambert were Poyet and MacKay, to which the journalist said "I can't say too much, but you can rule out MacKay." Doubtless crud, but who knows. Hawkesby (or Jacobs) then said Poyet had flown from the golf tournament straight to Uruguay. Confucious reigns.

Norwich have rejected Lamberts resignation according to Sky.

Suppose that's just to guarantee some compo when he leaves rather than let him go for free?

The journalist was Mick Dennis, and if the Sun's story turns out to be 100 per cent accurate about Lambert he will be in trouble with his editor as big pals with the Norwich board. It's a story he should have had first, especially since he bores on about Norwich every week in his column.

Gus doesn't want to replace Lambert or Rodgers, their job at Norwich and Swansea is already done, the clubs can't do any better.

No, Gus wants to emulate Rodgers or Lambert, by getting a team promoted to the premier league, and then surviving there comfortably, so it can then be his turn to head off to Liverpool or Villa or wherever.

We will be that club :fingers crossed:

The thing is, when any job comes up Gus is "in the frame".

I think it's usually bollocks. There are other managers who are much better placed, such as Chris Hughton with a decent track record, plus experience in the Premier League.

It's just that Gus never says no in interviews.

Didn't he 'steal' them by buying them in the normal way that most football teams do? (I say most as teams like Portsmouth, Rangers and others have 'bought' players without actually paying for them)

Sure, come up with some technicality like that to defend him. You're not a real fan. He destroyed this club by ripping away our best and most loved players and left us with no hope.

I mean... the fans that hate Lambert don't see it like that. They ignore things like "it's how it always works at every club" and act the victim.
