He’s been one of our most important players on the pitch recently, constantly talking to other players and being a leader and a role model.

Thing is his contract is up at the end of the season, and he’ll be 35 then. Are we expecting him to hang up his boots or continue for another season? Could see Moder stepping up into that role next season.

I don’t see Moder doing that role at that level. I’d prefer to see McAllister playing that role should he still be with us.

So important to how we play. Similar to Gross, we need at least one of them on the pitch to mentally focus everyone else throughout the match. Worth every penny.

Love the way Lallana is always leading the lines, holds his arms out to lead the press at the same time, has a word if not happy or pleased and how he and the club have managed his game time. His, Gross and Dunks experience with the younger lads can't be over egged.

Yes he's knocking on a bit but I can see him going for another couple of years before he hangs his playing boots up (barring major injuries) and transitioning into the player coach role.

From my recall one of the big attractions here was that progression into coaching.

I'll be astounded if Lallana doesn't see out his playing career with us and then join our coaching staff, wasn't that already being talked about when he signed? The club thought highly enough of him to make him a joint caretaker coach when Potter left, and he seems very happy here. It'll probably be left up to him about when to transition, he's smart enough to know that he'll get less and less game time as he ages and other midfielders come through.

I reckon he'll keep playing next season, but see how much game time he gets. If he's still a key player then we might get another year out of him. If he's more of a bit part sub then he'll transition into coaching.

I'm sure I read somewhere he suffers from a condition that " has to be managed " and that is the reason we don't see him so much on the pitch. This was known about when he signed and the intention was for him to end up as a coach in some capacity here when he can no longer play at a top level... and I'm sure no one here will object to that, top player.

I’d go for Alzate. Some of his passing in that Chelsea match at the Amex was incredible.

Agreed. Gilmour looks worryingly close to Alzate to me. Very neat but not a lot else at this level. (That is to say top Premier League team). Our progress has been so rapid that a few players will be slightly left behind. Moder different I think. He had a bit more wow factor, but it's a long way back for him.

Didn't think he'd offer us much when he signed. Thought he was too old and past it. How wrong I was.

Give him another 2 year playing deal, and then into the coaching team. For someone who has achieved so much in the game, he is so grounded. Excellent attitude.
