Exactly. His mentality could be the thing that has prevented them from sitting at the bottom of the table with zero points :D

All in seriousness, he REALLY should have retired at the end of last season.
I don't think people know how... anything works. Just because you bring in some people with good mentality to a club or corporation or organisation, it doesn't mean you're automatically going to have success. If you send out five guys with great mentality and wooden swords into a war they will be slaughtered by five guys with poor mentality and automatic rifles.

As for retiring... if he thinks its fun to play football, why would he?

How the feck would I know that he doesn't APPEAR to have made much of an impact?

If I was stating an absolute position, then your response would be valid.
But I didn't.

So it isn't.
But why would it appear one way or another unless you have insight in the Southampton dressing room and training facilities?

Someone was stupid enough to give him a contract. Thankfully it wasn't us. But given that he had an offer on the table, in reality to play for 7 minutes every 3 months and clap loudly in the dressing room at half time, I think he was probably wise to sign it

Hopefully he can swing it for James Milner to sign for them it will be a big loss out of our midfield/defence but hopefully we can get through.

Given how this season has gone for Dibling it's entirely possible that Lallana's wages at Saints are justified purely for any mentorship role that may be in place. The last couple of times I've seen them play he's looked like he's developing into an excellent young footballer.

(nothing surprising)

We very nearly were stupid enough to give him a contract as we offered him a new deal to stay. He rejected it cause he wanted to be closer to home.

They are bottom of the table with 6 points and already on their second manager of the season. It is clearly APPARENT that his positive impact has been immeasurably small.

Edit; On the playing side, that is. He may have inspired the medical team to up their game.

Nothing works like that. There's no logic in it. He could have massively impacted the club and people and they would still be bottom of the table because they're not good enough at football. One man can't change that.

I can't see Ivan Juric lasting the season and I think we'll see Lallana as their "player" manager before the end of the season.
Maybe... depends on if they feel like wasting money on sacking another manager when its going to do no difference at all in the end. They don't have a squad able to compete in the Premier League and thats why they're going down.

Maybe, I think their biggest priority would be finding a manager that's best suited to get them promoted from the Championship, which was proven to be the manager they already had in Russell Martin. If they're relegated, is Juric the man to get them promoted? I'm not so sure, he already sounds like he's lost the will to live:

"A very bad day. We didn't start well. We were very bad in the first 30 minutes but in the last 15 minutes much better. The second half was like a disaster. There were only 15 minutes where we played well - we pressed high, stole the ball, tried to create chances but, in every situation, they were better than us. Everything."

On whether the team is worse than he thought before he took charge: "We can compete with the others. We played such a good game against West Ham. After today, there was such a difference between us and them."
