Probably opening the door to a host of misogyny but for those interested, the Albion Ladies are 1-0 up in their FA Cup 3rd round game against WSL2 opponents Oxford. :clap2:

What are the chances that the WSL is a sign of things to come for the PL? Albion are top of the league and if they win, they get to play in a play off in order to go up. So 1 up 1 down.

The naming of the leagues just adds to the confusion. The Albion women are top of one of two regional leagues that are at the third tier of English women's football. The word "Premier" is therefore a tad misleading. If they win promotion - into the Women's Super League 2, they still have further to go, before they reach the summit. And promotion into WSL2 isn't automatic, even if the team win the playoff matches against the winners of the Northern division of the WPL. To get into WSL2, a team also has to meet what are called the "licensing requirements".

Look mate, just because the standard of football is at best non league, and people say so, it doesn't mean they hate women. Womens football is a different product like say womens 100 meters that also is not at the same standard of the mens. This is not anything other than obvious, it doesnt mean that people hate women. First you need a good product, dont blame the customer for not turning up.

If it hadn't clashed with youngest playing in a match we would have gone. Well done, I was told that Oxford are in the equivalent of the division above.

Yes but if people don't support it and complain about any coverage it gets then how will it improve? It is not suddenly going to get better if they can't pay good wages to coaches and afford good facilities and pay wages to players to be professional. All that takes support.

One of the licensing requirements that the Club will have to meet if they want to play at a higher level is that they can regularly get crowds above a threshold.

As you say, it takes support.

As WCP says, it's nothing to do with misogyny. Choosing to take no interest whatsoever in any football where the level of performance and ability is way below the Albion's first team is merely the exercise of choice. That applies whether it's County League, Development Squad or Albion Women (Good to see the club spurning that ludicrously old-fashioned and, for all I know, wholly inappropriate 'Ladies' tag.)

However, the relentless efforts of seagulls.co.uk to promote Albion Women activities with prominence equal to that of the first team could actually be counter-productive. How many others roll their eyes at being invited to relive the latest triumph over Keynsham Ladies, or tonking by Millwall Lionesses, complete with post match interview with the (always male) coach? For that matter, how many bother to read much about the Albion Under-18s, less still go to matches?

Yes, of course these teams are all part of the Albion's footballing fabric. Just don't expect many of us to spend much time going beyond a quick glance at a headline now and again.
