...and a fair few political commentators are insinuating that the demolition job on Chuka may have come from within the Labour Party.

Maybe, I doubt it has anything with Chuka playing "Lucky Pierre" more likely he is on the spang......................deviant sexual pecadillos (of all flavours) are less challenging these days, a propoesnity for columbian marching powder less so.

On my tissue I would make this 8/13...............dogging/swinging up at Streatham common 15/2, cruising same place 10-1.

Any takers? (pardon the pun)

They are falling like nine pins, I suppose the only alternative is Haradan Harman, her dirty washing was aired a few years back.

Obviously just a ploy by Chuck so the price on Burnham would hold - once the money was down he withdrew :moo:

Given that we now have the highest percentage of LGBT MPs of any democracy in the world, I'm not sure that being a friend of Dorothy is a hindrance to a political ambition in this country anymore. and are you saying that snide and puerile insinuations about his sexuality from a comedy right-wing polemicist are comparable with enemies within his own party finishing his career completely?

I don't think that anything the papers could throw at him could be worse than what is already known. A 2011 'Independent' piece by Tim Walker showed that he used to be a dealer in the worst kind of human misery:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...a-umunna-britains-first-black-pm-6259648.html

"(He also had the misfortune to support Crystal Palace FC, working in the box office at Selhurst Park during his teens. Like I said, things could be rough.)"

I think I like Tim Walker.

I read that the golden rule with political scandals is Tories - extra-curricular shagging, Lib Dems - deviancy, Labour - money. There's rumours of shady dealings with property in Jersey and offshore banking. There's a part of me that hopes it's something similar to Mark Oaten but this time with Chuka in a Palace top.

Given his haircut, he would have the same excuse available.

Noncing is a non-partizan scandal then.

i like the summary. and im sure i read there has already been an issue with source of payment for his parents home? offshore or tax avoidance scheme? mind you, Miliband seemed to get away with his tax avoiding, so maybe it needs to be more serious than that.

The two best candidates - Dan Jarvis and Chuka Umunna - have both withdrawn. None of the other candidates are particularly inspiring.

This. However, they won't find anyone less suited to being a Prime Minister than Ed so at least that is a positive.

Bad news for the Labour party. You can almost see the next election beginning to slip away too. Yvette Cooper, Burnham both tainted by recent Labour failures, Mary Creagh an unknown but 7 years on Islington Borough Council doesn't bode well. As for Liz Kendall she's married to the excellent Greg Davies and whatever her merits having the Prime Minister of the UK being shagged nightly by Mr Gilbert of the Inbetweeners makes her a non-starter.

If I was David Miliband I'd be concerned that if I didn't go in now then in 5 years time I'd be pushing 55, out of the game for a decade and up against a now older and wiser Chuka Umunna and Dan Jarvis.

Why are Cooper and Burnham tainted but not David M (who as author of the 2001 and 2005 manifestos) was even more closely connected with the Blair regime?

It's also impossible for him to stand: a Labour MP would have to die or resign within the next few days for him to be able to get on the ballot. He'd have to give up his job, come back here and, probably, get beaten soundly. If he couldn't win a ballot when the cards were stacked in his favour, he's hardly like to win when he's an outsider.

I agree that this election is a good one to lose though. Jarvis and Ummuna are biding their time. Pity for Mary Creagh, she's been very impressive when I've seen her on Question Time

You really are scraping the desperation barrel when you have to resort to Katie Hopkins as an example!

That's why I linked to the official Tory blogger, you did see that right?

A week has passed now and there is a distinct lack of anyone stepping up to the task, who is charismatic and appeals to the ‘aspirational middle classes’. Arguably David Miliband is the best option and he can’t enter the race, even if he wanted to.

Official Tory blogger - concentrate now

The Hopkins stuff was merely illustrating what the Tory was pointing to in a more mealy mouthed way
