A Labour Party which takes the good bits of New Labour and builds on them will be. Which is why I voted for Ed M.

I think it's fairly clear the nation does not have the stomach for the right wing politics of Cameron and smug George. If it did, it would have voted Cameron in with a majority.

Once the tories sort out the unfair voting system they will clearly be a majotity. Have a look at this map and tell me different :lolol:

If either of the Milliband brothers win, then thats the end of any Prime Ministerial ambition.
Why? Because there has been no Jewish PM since Disraeli and ' the men in grey suits ' will ensure that that continues.
Anti-semitism is still prevalent at the highest levels and talented as these boys may be, they will be blocked climbing to the top of the political ladder.

That's slightly misleading because as you might be aware, London, for example, is a lot more populous than say Cumbria.

Face the facts whoever wins will not lead the country, it will take three labour leaders before they get anywhere near being electable.

Thatcher clung on too long as did Blair so the wilderness years have started thankfully for Labour.

Here's a more representative version of the original you posted:

But I agree that the current voting system is unfair. :)

Interesting to see that every candidate has been educated in Cambridge or Oxford..

Anyway, really hope David Milliband wins. What a class act

That'll be the David Milliband who only got into University because his parents pulled all the strings they could. He's not too bright, you know.

A very clear illustration of how the UK is a deeply divided country. North / South. East / West. However you look at it.

Ed let it go, the party is really over.

Labour are out of the equation now for a long time.

He got a first-class degree from Oxford and a masters from MIT (and as Rex Cathedra will tell you, MIT has very rigorous standards), so I don't know where this particular myth has come from.

3 B's and a D at A level will get mere mortals laughed out of the building when applying to Oxbridge. Fortunately mummy and daddy knew people. It's how the Kinnock's get their sprogs there. And the Blairs and all the other elite.

Wonderful quote from the Times:

Inside the brotherhood: meet David and Ed Miliband - Times Online

'At Oxford there was a certain aura about David, because people knew who his parents were. '

I'm under no illusions what patronage can get you and how far you can go with it and what sorts of certificates it will buy you.

3 B's and a D - that's almost on a par with Prince Edward.

not sure what the point of this detour is, he still got a first and got into MIT. only really shows how secondary education doesnt necessarily prepare you for university. (its also curious to note while Davids A-levels are a matter of public record, Ed's aren't only that he did "better").

Bit off-topic now but you really don't know what you're talking about.

The ex-Mrs Gwylan - the lawyer - went to Oxford after scoring 2 Bs and a D in her A levels. She wasn't aristocratic nor had academics as parents, it's just Oxbridge admissions are a law unto themselves and try to pick winners. As she went on to get a first, a masters and came 2nd out of several hundred in that year's Bar exams, it seems that, like with David Miliband, Oxford got it right.

Really? Then she's the exception that proves the rule. Back when I was doing my A levels our year were told not to even bother applying for Oxbridge unless you were predicted at least 2 A's

I'd be interested to see what the average A level grades were for Milliband's peer group. Can't prove it but a hunch would be 2 A's and a B minimum.

For the record, I'm not an Oxbridge reject. I went to Imperial.

Ed Milliband will connect Labour back to the 'working class' without frightening too many horses. I voted for him. Its a progressive form of a soft socialism. It will succeed if the press represent him fairly... Oh wait.... there's not much chance of that is there?
