[Politics] Labour has suspended former leader Jeremy Corbyn

I think Corbyn has overestimated how much loyalty there is to him, but we'll see.

The fact is that his choice for leader was soundly beaten. There will be a few who peel away but I think the bulk of the members will stay loyal - they may even attract a few back.

And once again you're being deliberately obtuse. You asked what decided my VOTE. I gave you an entire range of things that included watching debates on telly and reading the manifesto, because I find that's the best way to decide what the policies and personalities up for election actually are. Or were. These days it seems you can make up any old shit and put it in your manifesto, win and then forget about it.

And I said Tory politician. Not "true Tory".

I have friends who vote Tory and am well aware that many "hard working small businessmen" from working backgrounds attach themselves to the party. Some of them are on here.

So, stop changing the subject. My vote is based on the people seeking it such as BoJo and Jacob Rees-Mogg, both of whom fit perfectly exactly what I described, and not their supporters.

Have you ever voted Labour???

Okay. It's good that you can see that tories are decent chaps. Although you will never believe me, I am not blue right through the centre, so could be persuaded, but every time I get an urge, I get the sweats.
I do find Labour supporters also like to preach a lot, and it's people like Kevin Maguire, Rayner and Jess Phillips and their nasty hate speech that makes me judge them as nasty activists people and a waste of space.

Are they just a minority then???

No, I have never voted Labour, the closest I came was when Major was leader, I didn't like the guy, but at least he was having a regular Currie.

The door is always open, but I think just the word labour always makes me think of excruciating pain.

The orgasmic Party headed up by Randy Nandy, would stand a chance of my lead marking her box.

Starmer seems intelligent enough to know that centrists leaving to form their own party will end up in oblivion. They must at all costs remain the official party who will then retain the apparatus of constituency workers, agents, etc, as Kinnock and then Blair did when ridding Labour of Militant. Force the Corbynists to splinter off. I think Corbyn has overestimated how much loyalty there is to him, but we'll see..

Of course, if the Tories can ride out COVID and the inevitable economic nightmare of Brexit and then replace the doctrinaire Brexiters with centrists, they may swing things back in their favour. Their majority gives them plenty of time to do so. And in the end they'll do what they have to in order to give themselves the best chance of winning, because if they're not in power, their chances of lining their own pockets and those of their friends are diminished.

They are often helped by the Judean People's Front, sorry, Labour Party, fighting themselves rather than their true enemy, but this time the internal battles may be over by the next election. I for one will be glad to see the back of Corbyn, one of the least intelligent people to lead a political party in my lifetime.

My prediction in the next GE would be a bigger majority to tories if Labour can't lose the far left lot, so it's over to Starmer.

What apart from any non-tory view being dumped in the bear pit, racists and nazis not being banned and being called "a ****' by a mod for suggesting the NHS is funded?

‘Any’ non-Tory view being dumped in the bear pit?

Okay. It's good that you can see that tories are decent chaps.

My friendship group isn't chosen based on politics and many of my oldest mates have come from a shared love of BHAFC. In my time I've met decent, caring and hilarious Tory voters and lefties who are the most obstinate ideological bores.

I play poker with a group that includes centerists, a couple of Extinction Rebellion sympathisers and a dyed in the wool Tory. We're all social liberals and remainers though - I think that's slowly become more devisive than party politics in personal friendships TBH. I've also met and talked with Peter Kyle several times and find him a decent chap. I once met Fatty Soames - he wasn't.

My prediction in the next GE would be a bigger majority to tories if Labour can't lose the far left lot, so it's over to Starmer.

Yes I agree but I believe Labour will. And, as above, with Brexit done and dusted the Tories may have to stand on their Covid and Brexit records against a rejuvinated centerist Labour.

A split, new far left party standing against Labour might not harm them if Boris really screws up Brexit for the former red wall voters and, if they decided to back another Scottish Independance referendum and have a coalition with the SNP, the Tories would really be in trouble.

But if today's actual, functioning Labour party went back to the three idiots they'd lose me forever, and I wouldn't even have Kyle making me feel guilty as he'd undoubtedly be purged in that circumstance.

Is that the Labour party that is in the lead in two national opinion polls?

Personally, I don't think there'll be a split. It's true that quite a few people will leave but who are they going to vote for? I've already seen one say that he's going to campaign for the Tories now and some going to Green (and no doubt some will join the Socialist Party or the SWP) but the majority will probably still vote Labour - even if not members.

You may also see people leave the Tory party - the One Nation, EU supporters. And these may well find another home somewhere - the LibDems or a Starmer-led Labour party.

We've had enough splits: the SDP and Change got nowhere and I can't see much desire for yet another centrist party.

WRT mouldy brains, I salute your indefatigbility : lolol:

Fair enough. Not all Tories are selfish or stupid c**ts, some are just c**ts.

Isn't it stuff like this that takes reasonable debates into the bear pit mate? I voted Tory for reasons I've defined, I don't think it's helpful calling millions and millions of people *****.
