Yeah, I think that was a bone-headed thing to do.

I don't want to be an apologist for Livingstone because he can be a total cock sometimes. He's certainly got some dodgy Islamic friends. But he was 100% correct when he said tube privatisation would be a disaster and he was 100% correct on the need to talk to Irish republicans.

If I lived in London, I'm not totally sure I'd vote for him but people should have valid reasons not inventing things like support for the IRA or commissioning Islamic buildings.
