And the cycle continues. When Labour was in power, the Tories blamed Brown for the all our problems and he blamed the global economic downturn. Now the Tories are in power they are blaming the Eurozone crisis for all our problems and Labour is blaming the Tories. Plus whenever either party gets into power, they use the 'sorting out the mess left by the last lot blah blah' for fecking years. Do us all a favour - just tell us what you think the problems are and a plan to sort it out, then we can decide at the ballot box if we think you've done a good job or not.

And before anyone says - "simples - vote UKIP" - I'd rather nail my bollocks to the mast of a sinking ship.

I'm getting more and more impressed with Ed Milliband, he's growing into the role. Hopefully he'll get the chance to follow Harold Wilson and Tony Blair and save the country from the usual mess that incompetent Tory governments inevitably leave. And yes I know the Tories on the board won't agree with that statement - despite the fact it's true! (Don't bother replying!)

you sir are a tribal labour supporter, fair enough. but take it from a centrist swing voter with no tribal alligience. labour inherited a good economy, that is not my opinion that is the opinion of the office for national statistics and various other official independent bodies.

by contrast in 79 & 2010 labour left a huge deficit and our country bankrupt. thats a fact. you may hate the tories, fair enough. but their record on the state of the economy is lot better. anyone can spend money tney dont have. not everyone can manage an economy.

look at it objectively without the tribal blinding of reality. labour always leave power having made a complete mess that needs resolving

Proof if needed that your average British voter is clueless! The "New Labour" idiots should never be elected again. The Tories may be heartless, but at least they will not leave our country in the total mess left by the other lot.

Errr, don't look now, but ...

The Lib Dems have been found out for what they probably were all along: a right-wing vehicle for siphoning away left-of-centre votes from Labour. It's worked well for a long time, but those voters will not vote LD again. Coupled with rising disdain for the Bullingdon Boys' arrogant, high-handed way of doing things (everything from Murdoch to the Dave Slave programme has caused this, take your pick), and I don't think the British right realise just how much trouble they're in. Their best ruse of the last 50 years- the existence of the Lib Dems- has been rumbled.

do you actually believe that guff, or is it propaganda.... the lib dems are full of old school, ex labour socialists. theyre far more natural bedfellows of labour than the tories.

if anything, with the complete shambles labour goverments make of the finances, i would be incclined to suggest all labour voters should vote lib dem. you may then get a socialist goverment WITH economic management thrown in.

...we are still in the aftermath of new Labour's mess. it remains to be seen how things will turn out over the next 3 years. those trying to make a point over one party leaving a mess for another, well it goes both ways, the mess is usually the reason people vote for the other party.

Hasnt it always been said that if a government is doing their job properly they will be unpopular so would expect to drop in the opinion polls. Do you think David Cameron really takes any notice of these polls mid term?

I think under Red Ed it'll be completely different...Tony and the Blairites were crooks of the highest order and lied to us (more than your average politician). Red Ed has got my vote to be honest!

Well, let us hope you forget to vote then!

If this thread qualifies as political debate is it any wonder the economy is flatlining?

Never felt so despondent and disenfranchised.

I fear it is only a matter of time before the Euro goes belly up, ushering in a good decade of stagnation at best and depression at worst. Also have no confidence in any of the parties to address the various problems facing us.

Time for a new punk movement...
