[Albion] Kurt Nogan calls Albion fans HOOLIGANS

I’m outraged.

Love the cheeky smile to camera when he says "hooligans".

Always liked Nogan. Was a typical goal scorer who looked fantastic when on a goal scoring run but nothing when not. He went from being on fire for a season to being totally unable to hit a barn door the following season. That said, I remember him being very hard work that season, and he was generally let down by players around him.

1992 / 93 - he barely got a look in until late October, when he scored his first goal for us which rebounded off his ars3. he went on to get 20+ goals

1993 / 94 - we had a terrible start and ultimately sacked Bazza, before Brady came in. For the second half of that season we played some amazing football, helped by the acquisition of Case, Flatts and Dickov - and again Nogan got 20+ goals

1994 / 95 - we had genuine belief that a promotion season was in the offing. Nogan got something like 14 goals in the first 2-3 months, and then never scored again!

The season after he left was 95-96, and the gory years properly started...

A few stand out memories:

It was only Wycombe, but away at Adams Park in August 1994 we totally outclassed them, and how we only won 3-1 still baffles me. Anyone who went will recall it could easily have been 10.

New Years Day 1994: Nogan's only hat-trick for us against Cambridge.

Jan 1994: Nogan injury time winner

He was indeed on a run of 20 games without a goal when he left, but it was gutting nonetheless, as McDougald didn't look like scoring either. Made slightly less gutting by the immediate re-signing of John Byrne on a free.

Wasn’t he linked with Liverpool and Everton for £1 million plus when he was scoring for fun? He then went on that massive goal drought and ended up going to Burnley for £250,000.

Yep. In the space of those 20 games, he lost 75% of his apparent value.

Oh boy, I went to that game @ Old Trafford.
I got tickets from Alex Ferguson’s secretary who worked at old Trafford as I’d fitted her carpet and we chatted about football the day after the draw and true to her word she got me two tickets in the Stratford end !! But managed to get in the away end when I presented them both at the turnstile and told him the story, he probably sold them both.

We played them in both competitions that year I’m sure ?
& am I right in thinking Beckham came on at the Goldstone to a chorus of “who the feckin hell are you”

What did you see? Probably Macbeth if AF was supplying the tickets.

I seem to remember that Nogan had an absolute sitter away at Crewe to break the long barren spell but somehow managed to miss it. He was completely bewitched by that point.

If that was the game where we got beaten by a few goals, then I was there and remember someone in the crowd shouting at Nogan and telling him, after a miss, that if he saw him down some club in Brighton (forget which one) that night, he was going to lamp him.

Yes, it's audible on the youtube video  I was on the North West corner terrace with a fog horn hidden under my jacket and my little bro. A copper kept coming over to see who had the horn and every time he turned his back on me i'd let it off.
