Well let's hope there aren't going to be too many arseholes making ironic cheers for his 1st few touches. The man needs all the backing he can get and not a crowd waiting to have a go. Here's to him having a blinder

Excellent chance for him to prove everyone wrong.

Let's hope he does well today. Not ideal conditions for a keeper admittedly! Great chance for him though.

JB suggests Smith positioning for the 1st may have been at fault but that the 2nd was taken with Premier League quality by Beckford. I have no idea, obviously, FDM also makes mistakes sometimes but I guess Smith is gonna get crucified again tonight.

His kicking is mainly abysmal. He just doesn't fill me with confidence.

No doubt someone will now point out I'm only saying it because of my fondness for our other keeper, but I've tried to rate Smith and I just can't. He may not be directly responsible for most of the goals he concedes, but does he actually ever do anything positive? Michel IN.

Is that a piss take, his kicking was good. Not quite sure what he was meant to do to stop the goals and as for staying on his line it means he doesn't get stuck behind a bloke in an attempt to run did it cost us a goal? All be it knock him (or anyone) when he deserves it but did nothing wrong at all

His kicking was pathetic today. At one point in the second half he ballsed up about three in a minute. As I said earlier, it's hard to blame him directly for too many goals, but overall the stats can't lie after so many games. What is it now? 20 odd goals in about 6 games?

Couldn't disagree more, he sliced one kick which went straight in the air but no harm came of that the rest were placed and on another day when Murray is not up against the giant number 17 they would have started attacks. With out watching the whole game again you will have your view though and no talking you out of it

The stats are starting to stack up against him. Today he let in more shots than he saved (Leeds had 5 shots on target, three of them went in).
OK, perhaps he's brilliant, fantastic, not to be criticised or blamed for any of the loads of goals he's let in - but just unlucky?
So, do we need an unlucky GK any more than we need a bad one?

Smith was way off his line again for the 1st goal - teams are wise to him not being the tallest and habitually standing way too far off his line, even Wycombe tried it on wednesday night. He may well be a decent keeper but how many more chances does he have left? His kicking as on the whole worse than fdm but more concerning is his dreadfully slow disribution, he had plenty of opportunities to get us on a quick counterattack but chose to wait and try to hoof it in the general direction of Murray who unfortunately 90% of the time was clattered by their defenders. In short if smith put the same effort into his positioning that he puts into shouting crap he could well be solid between the posts! Fdm is the only choice right now, if his injury is longer than short term we need a keeper on loan and fast.

I thought his positioning was all wrong for the first goal which maybe could have been prevented. I also thought at times there was very liitle communication between him and the defence

I have read some bollox on here in the past but that takes the biscuit.

His kicking is far far superior to FDM and on most occassions he actually kicks it to a Brighton player. He is always looking for a quick kick out or throw to his defenders.

He will occupy the position for the next 3 weeks as according to FDM speaking to a fan sat next to him, that is how long he will be out for
