Comedy Steve is an ok compere but I am not sure some of the 'faces' aren't plants. He had a social worker and special needs teacher to work off last night superb fuel for a comic and both from Sheffield as well 'where have you been in Brighton'? London was the reply.

He also managed to find a Komedia employee from Bath in the front row. If it is all spontaneous wit then he is excellent and probably a bit wasted there.

The acts were ok short Scottish women was good. The others were quite good as well, but perhaps went on a bit long. The comics were made up of a Doctor an ex lawyer and an ex teacher.

I hadn't been before but might go again.

Oh I see erm...........two blokes playing golf as a hearse drives by. First bloke stops on the green puts down his putter, takes his cap off and bows his head.

Second bloke (stop me if you've heard it) says 'that's very respectful Stan'

First bloke (lets call him Stan) says 'too right I was married to her for 40 years'

They wouldn't have been plants, but Comedy Steve usually does a lot of the same gags about the audience. I've been 20-30 times and that sounds like his usual audience fodder.

But he is a very funny bloke and most stand ups churn out the same routine anyway.

HB&B when we seat 300 people in a matter of an hour do you think we have time to screen what they do then put them in the front row, just so Stephen Grant can tell the jokes he wants to?

What is more likely? Steve comes in tells us what jokes he wants to tell and we conduct a survey on all incoming customers to see who best suits these jokes; or we try and make every single couple sit in the front row until we finally convince enough to sit there?

On the Komedia Bath employee in the front row, I am as baffled as anyone else how she ended up there. Obviously, Brighton employees do not know everyone who works in Bath and why someone who works in a comedy club would want to sit in the front row I just do not know.

Comedy Steve's responses to people's jobs are just practice. When you do the job he does you will come across most occupations so you will have jokes prepared for all of them. It is pretty simple.

I thought all real Brightonians knew the merits of the Komedia. Been there a while hasn't it?
