Nice idea, but it might be worth someone checking just how this kind of use of the national anthem goes down in a French cultural context. I may be wrong but I have a vague memory that 'insulting' the national anthem is actually a criminal offence in France. Obviously there's no insult intended here - quite the opposite - but it would be unfortunate if an attempted fans' tribute actually ended up embarrassing Knockeart, if it turns out not to be the 'done thing' to use the Marsaillaise in this way.

Nice poem, 0% chance of working in a football stadium. AK already has a song.

And to be honest, it's shite.

The first and last lines are correct, the rest are highly contentious, bordering on wrong.

La Marseillaise works much better and, as Hull City fans reminded us, we are practically French.

It's very, very good. A few too many syllables for some, but I love it. Be nice if folk did learn it. A proper original.

This may be what you are remembering, as far as I can see there are no further negative connotations in using their national anthem's tune although I may be wrong.

Not the real one
This might work...

(Start out with der der ing. So that everyone knows the song is coming)
Der der der der ..der der .. da der der der... ..........dada dada da....dadadaaaa.....

He plays for us here at the Albion
He's our winger, and he is top class
Leaves defenders behind on their arse

(Leave out the middle verse)

Oh An-tho-ny!
Oh An-tho-ny!
Knockaert, Knockaert
Tears teams apart
And gets the victory.

Repeat
Oh An-tho-ny!
Oh An-tho-ny!
Knockaert, Knockaert
Tears teams apart
And gets the victory.

Shortened yes but it would work and could catch on.

Love the tune, love the sentiment, good work, but surely too long to catch on?

How about cutting out the middle bit?

Down at Brighton & Hove Alllll-bion
We've got a winger, who's total class
He can thrill with the skill of Vicente
Leave defenders flat on their arse
He's a footballing French masterclass

Ant'ny, An-tho-ny
Ant'ny, An-tho-ny
Knockaert, Knockaert
Tears teams apart
And gets the victory.

Breaks the '7 or less different words' rule for a chant catching on.

Just the above realistically for it to catch on.

Nice work - tend to agree with others about the length though. Let's kick it off with the chorus - if it catches on, then it can be expanded with the intro.
Would be great to have something that doesn't follow the identikit list of chants most other clubs use :albion:

I'm another one in team CHORUS as per the last couple of times we've discussed using this.
Just the chorus will work really well - the rest will be too hard to keep in time and would just end up mumble mumble mumble.

As for any issues using the anthem - there was no issue when Utd fans used it for Cantona.
