And yet there is a live interview on seagulls player where he says he'll 'stay for sure'.

Adds weight.

Also:

“I am totally focused with the team and I have been all the time. There is no way the Newcastle bid distracted me. I love this team"

and

“This club deserves to do it and I will do everything to try to make it happen.”

Shit - they'll be after Dunk, Stockdale, Bruno and Rosenior as well now then, to shore up their defence!

Not forgetting Forestieri and any other form Championship players to boost their attack

I don't think we'll sell to Newcastle at any price, as they are in the same division.

It may be different if an established Premier League club offers £10m+

OK. I'll give the language thing a go ...

To cut a long story short, he might easily have chosen "want" rather than "need" as "besoin" contains a sense of agency or impulse on the part of the speaker.

Basically he's saying "I don't give a flying **** about Newcastle, if I want to stay, I stay".

This view is reinforced by the rest of the interview (and others) which are available on Player or Radio Sussex and also widely quoted, particularly in The Argus.

Sleep easy or as AK might put it Courage, Mes Braves!

Nobody does delusional quite like the geordies.

I'd say they are quite philosophical in general. They are pretty tolerant, perhaps too much.

They'll be added value for any First Division team. I'd say closer to £15m.

I'd hope so. I'm more thinking of the unsettling of the player. All the time the speculation is with a club in the same division I don't think AK really wants to go anywhere.

I suspect AK would start to agitate if a decent PL side came in with an offer in excess of 10m.

It does sound like Tony Bloom is determined to keep our squad together - for which many thanks. But I'm not sure where this idea that AK is definitely not going has come from.

In the Argus he is quoted as saying “I feel very happy here, so if I need to stay I will stay. I know how much I love the club and they’ve been brilliant with me since I’ve been here".

So he's saying that if he isn't transferred (presumably because Brighton won't sell him) then he's OK with that. That's not the same as saying he won't leave in the transfer window is it?

Palace alert.
