Long live the pocket rocket (no, not Pedro Delgado).

I'm sure any fee we agreed with Chelski made a major dent in the £76m they are trying to recoup at present :lolol:

Albion have today completed the permanent signing of striker
Leon Knight from Chelsea. The 20-year-old forward completed a
full medical at Falmer this morning, before putting pen to
paper on a new two-year contract with the Seagulls this
afternoon.

Chairman Dick Knight agreed transfer terms with the
Premiership club last weekend and finalised the details
yesterday. The deal involves no initial fee, an undisclosed
sum if Brighton get promoted, plus a sell-on clause to
Chelsea.

Albion fought off strong competition from QPR for Knight's
signature and two First Division clubs were interested, but
the player and his advisors were
happy to accept the two-year deal offered by Albion's
chairman, following lengthy negotiations this week.

Manager Steve Coppell expressed his delight at Knight's
permanent signing, "He's made a massive impact in the first
three games and I am really pleased
he's signed permanently. He's been the difference in the early
games. He's a real box of tricks, and he gives us something,
that not many other Second
Division teams have."

Leon Knight said, "It was a very easy decision. After the
first few games I'd seen how the club was run and it's the
kind of club I want to be at.

"I want to get my career back on track, and I want to get
Brighton back into the First Division.

"I need to be in a team that's got a good team spirit; I need
to be in a team that is heading places.

"Brighton have skipped up two leagues, gone up to Division
One, come back down, but they have still got those players. If
it comes down to the last
two games of the season they know what it's all about."

Dick Knight commented, "Leon has attracted the interest of
other clubs because he's quickly fitted in so well here. That
speaks volumes for Steve Coppell, the players, the spirit at
this club, and Leon's own absolute etermination to make his
mark in football.

"I'm delighted that he's chosen to develop his career with
Brighton, and every Albion fan will be looking forward to
seeing more of this exciting young goalscorer in Seagulls
colours."

Brilliant deal. Congrats to DK and SC.

Don't get up from that seat though, DK. I think I can hear AK getting his pen out, too.

:clap2:

...and this is just the start.

Don't want to put a dampener on things but a two year contract is pretty minimal committmentWe had better go up this season or we will have to sell him next year!!!!!!:glare:
