Kitson takes the Premiership by storm

Very harsh IMHO but there you go

Not as harsh as Hart v Palace in 2005. Remember he was gonna be subbed anyway cos he was injured but ref decides to send him off which lost us the game. Also the 1st yellow could have been turned down by 4th official apparently .

Hmmm, I wonder what Kitson's reaction will be, bearing in mind his apparent expertise on the subject of bad tackles...I trust he will be forthcoming with the sort of apology he demanded from Matthew Upson...

“I almost had my leg broken at the end,” Kitson said. “I haven’t worked my a*** off in the gym, running for six months, just for him to come back and top me again. It was a shocking tackle. He should have been sent off.” Kitson was promptly substituted — “for my own safety” — as Reading made their greater sharpness felt.

...and Denilson...

"I've just seen the incident again on TV and I invite the ref to rescind the card," said Kitson.

"I slid in to get the ball with my long legs and won it fair and square, but I didn't realise at the time that Denilson jumped in on me with two feet. I've got the scar to prove it and if my foot had been planted on the floor then he would have broken my leg, and I'd have been booked for it. I didn't realise what he'd done at the time, otherwise I would have said something"

...and Chris Riggott....

Kitson said: "I'd never have said Chris Riggott would be the one to injure me. I think he might be out at the moment but Boro will forever be the team I got injured against on the opening day of the season. Even though I scored my and Reading's first Premiership goal it overshadowed everything. Six months is a long time by anyone's standards. It's a massive chunk out of my career. Boro tried taking the sting out of the game and I bore the brunt"

OI KITSON!

Watchin the boats go by
Blatant red card. Had he hit the other leg that was on the ground, he may well have snapped it and people would be calling for him to be banned for longer than 3 matches.

Agreed, there's no way you can see a sliding out of control, knee high, late tackle is anything other than a straight red card. I don't think it was malicious (sp) but it was wreckless and definatley dangerous, deffo red card for me

Was it really bad or was it because it was a Manchester United player? If it had been Wigan they'd been playing would he have got a straight red is what I mean

It was a red card, but if Gerrard or Scholes had done it it wouldn' have been a red

looked at lot worse in sky super slow mo, was a mis timed challenge for the ball which was in the air before evra kicked it a split second before Kitson challenged. Not a sending off will be seen a lot of times this season and the worse that will happen is a yellow. The ref and the location made it a red card

'Red-faced Dave Kitson was involved in a four-letter tunnel row with Sky pundit Ruud Gullit after the game at Manchester United. The Reading striker's appearance as a sub lasted just 37 seconds before he was sent off for a crude tackle on Patrice Evra. Gullit asked him when he was going to learn to play football properly. Kitons told the former Chelsea boss to mind his own business and the pair went eyeball to eyeball for a few seconds' - The Sun

Good man.

Gullit can f*** off.
So can Rob Styles

Keith Gillespie got sent off after 0 seconds when we played Sheff U last season. He came on as a sub, walked over an hit Stephen Hunt before the game had been restarted, and was redded for it.

I assume that you don't think it warranted a red card then?

It seemed a pretty nailed-on red to me. I couldn't believe it then when Andy Gray started defending it, saying there would be worse tackles that would go unpunished! a) I doubt there will be many. A couple that get away with yellows, but not unpunished b) so what, just because other officials will be too lenient (IMO) doesn't mean that he got the decision wrong!
