I really don’t want this to turn into a binfest or drag the racists out, but what were they thinking with this?

I don’t think a train platform timetable board is any place for preaching any religion. They’ve made the right decision now, but who on earth let this happen?

I think organised religion should be kept in the homes and places of worship and organised events - not in one of the busiest train stations in the world.

Who wants to be be called a sinner and told to repent on their morning commute?

I am not religious at all and do not find that offensive in any way. Repentance is a key part of many religions, certainly Christianity and Judaism as well as Islam.

Having lived in the Middle East for 16 years, wishing someone Ramadan Kareem isn't really that different from Merry Christmas or greeting a Jew with Happy Hanukkah. (Other non-monotheistic religious options and none are available.)

I always viewed it as just a polite greeting for those who you know are fasting during daylight hours and nothing more than respect.

I'd argue that in a pluralistic society like London, it's perfectly acceptable and isn't in any way proselytising.

This, however, is very different. It's theologically holding people to ransom who are only trying to find out the train times.

Even as a Christian, sharing the gospel with anyone interested is one thing, but vomiting it over unwilling people is quite another.

I'm not surprised there's been criticism. Frankly, it's well deserved.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I am a Born Again Christian as many on here will know, and happy to evangelise and spread the Gospel wherever l go.

But with one big caveat, only if people WANT to hear it. Religion is a very personal thing, l realise it isn't for everyone.

My wife is very religious. I am not in the slightest and think it is all bollocks.

I don't find this offensive, but I'm not sure it should be on a public information board - in the same way that we send our kids to non-faith schools.

Keep the basics free of influence - allow everyone to believe and practice what they want and celebrate that we all can.

Seems an odd thing to do, and may offend some Christians (who aren't really Christians in the gospel sense of the world, but simply wrap that up in the identity of white Anglo-Saxon)

I'm not sure the text of the message is appropriate for it's display though. If anything, it's a form of advertising.

We are a mostly secular society, so folk are bound to be unhappy. I understand it.

But then we already know this given the rising numbers of people with this faith, whether through immigrants, conversions or born into as 2nd and 3rd generation. Many communities here don’t exactly buy into British values, same in any democracy (you don’t tend to get a choice in Dictatorships hence why nobody migrates there for a ‘better’ life!). So yep, a bit new and strange to those of us not of the faith here, but maybe it won’t be very soon?

It’s a message on a billboard. I don’t know why the people it’s not relevant to can’t just ignore it, in the same way you ignore any other irrelevant info on those boards. Like arrivals if you are looking at departures. Some folk have way too much time on their hands.

In 1986 we had a Ramadan experience at school. Learned about it and could voluntarily fast .

It’s been quite a thing in Britain for a long while.

Not sure a rail terminal is the appropriate location for such religious messages though.
