It's not really a " General Knowledge " paper though is it ? . I have done pub quizzes for yonks and if you tried asking people these " questions " you would empty the pub. ..pretty pointless.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I think I may have one right? I'll stick to University Challenge. It's a lot easier.

It looks like the " questions" have been converted in to the quiz equivalent of a Cryptic Crossword. I'm sure there's lots of very old senior history teachers and Oxbridge Don's lapping this stuff up and getting the obscure references......either that or the whole exercise is a covert MI5 entrance exam.

The election one (XV replaced by XI) is the Vatican - Pope Benedict XV succeeded by Pope Pius XI

Sorry folks, I should have given a bit of background. https://kwc.im/general-knowledge-quiz/

I developed a bit of a soft spot for this in the 80s when we used to fill some dead time at the office between Christmas and the New Year by researching it together. Well done Frutos! 👍 Not everybody’s cup of tea but a good place to hide from ‘Uncle Derek’ on Christmas Day.

For those that do like the style, there are two books of past papers available! 😂😂

Started my usual look yesterday. I tend to work through over the holiday. Googling is allowed after the school's kids take the paper home for Xmas. They get a score before and a score after the break. Useful to know that each section is themed. Helped last year when I twigged that one round was National winners and my brother helped me with his racing knowledge. The first and last are always 100 years ago and this year. So far:

1/2 - Sistine Chapel where the new pope was elected;
1/5 - Gandhi;
1/7 - Nils Bohr;
1/8 - Erskine Childers;
1/9 - Sir Henry Wilson;
1/10 - The Seine was a ship that rammed and sunk the Egypt;

4/1 - Elinor Dashwood;
4/9 - Eleanor Rigby;

Theme for 4 must be Eleanors
