Kill my dog

I am thinking of giving away my dog as it is not wanted anymore in our house. Does anyone know a quick and painless way of doing it as we used to be fond of it.
The local vet wants 30 quid for doing the job but he says it has to be poorly first.

I had to change this post as you cannot kill your dog. That is wrong.

Saw this on the M25 a couple of weeks ago... In the outside lane... people were swerving at about 80 mph to avoid a dead dog
