if that is directed at me, I give Potter credit for what he did but he shat on us, RDZ gave us the best football we have ever seen but in the last few months turned into a loose cannon and no I am not praising that! Both let us down ultimately unless you are one of those, and there are a few, who are blaming TB rather than RDZ and claiming lack of ambition. Which to me is quite f***ing mind boggling
Not necessarily aimed at you no, I do think the bring potter back brigade “he had us 4th” agenda here over the last few months have been unbelievably tiresome. I’m not blaming TB for lack of ambition, I’m saying this seems an odd move to most, I think TB needs to get this appointment right, it’s all feeling a bit end of Poyet and we are about to appoint Garcia, or even worse Hyypia, or even worse… Adams Mk 2. But ultimately I hope we don’t and deep down I don’t think we will.

Potter was a yes man and Chelsea want a yes man. They took a while to sack him (yes, 6 months to them is a while). In some respects I think we want a yes man and Roberto wasn't. We did due diligence on him as we do with all coaches and Roberto's mistake was trying to change our (Tony's) model. We know Roberto loved working with the squad and has gone on record as saying its the best group of players he's ever worked with. Its such a shame he's gone and I'm sure Bloom Barber feel the same. The next appointment has a lot to live upto!

Where have I said I want him back? Just stating that GB’s non stop criticism is wearing…imo. He was not the spawn of the devil until he left, he gave RDZ the platform. Without GP’s input I sincerely doubt RDZ would have taken the job

Bitterness is not a healthy trait
What's wearing now is that every single next manager thread on here has devolved into arguing about Potter.

It's like our own Godwin's law at the moment. Any thread about our next manger will eventually have somebody mention Potter.

Exactly and eventually as soon as one person says, no he’s rubbish, his army of defenders turn up and go on about how he was 4th when he left.

Yes but his defenders hardly amount to an army. His support is a bit thin across the piece.

We loved RDZ as he got the fans spoke like a fan at times to. This upset some as they seem more happy with a boring yes man.
He’s the best manager we’ve ever had IMO. Football is meant to be enjoyable for all parties and Roberto loved winning and wanted to win more. The decision to axe someone who wanted to push on for more success says all you need to know really. One interest develop players and flog them he soon discovered the reality of the club and didn’t agree with it.
Spot on. We will get a boring yes man. Whole thing stinks imo. It was our best chance of glory having RDZ and we should have backed him.

Apologies if it has already been mentioned several pages back that we have already allegedly interviewed McKenna.....

McKenna is also wanted by Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea. It is understood Brighton interviewed him on Wednesday but his preference would be to return to Old Trafford. McKenna — who earned promotion to the Premier League this season with Ipswich Town — is a boyhood United fan and left the club in 2021 having spent five years there, initially working with the under-18s before José Mourinho promoted him to the first team, where he stayed as a coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

I guess it might be because the Potter story was never finished. Everything was clicking and they he upped and went. There are many who will never forgive him for this, who are still furious two years later. There are many who would like him back because they want to see the story continued, to see how far it can go - or maybe just to get 'closure'. If he comes back, is shit and gets sacked, then we all end up in the same place. Or if he comes back does a big mea culpa, is successful, then we all end up in the same place. Then there are many who have already moved on, don't hate him anymore and can appreciate his time, but would rather not see him back and open old wounds. But at the moment his story is hanging in the ether with so many interpretations of his time here, his departure, how we feel about him and what could be if he came back

As I said what exactly is the plan now, I see Barber has reverted back to type top ten when previously it was Europe & Silver ware. The amount of backing the last few weeks of the season Barber was giving RDZ makes me think even he didn’t know what TB was planning.

I know it's been less than a week since RDZ left, but do feel like we could have really f***ed it this time around. They knew about RDZ leaving, ages ago. If we don't get our first choice, whoever that is, then we are SCREWED. I will find it infuriating if we slide backwards, all because we didn't want to break the mould for success. We are in great hands, but I fear this was a big f*** up.

Agree. But is that really entertaining the fans? Thought RDZ had given them new ideas and a fresh excitement, plainly not.

Chasing a championship manager ffs they never work out. I thought we had put the championship signings and managers behind us.

Just a fifth, but a dozen characters are relentlessly blitzing every Albion manager thread, giving the false impression that Potter’s the only sensible choice.
