The football REALLY reminds me of Dezerbiball.

Dessertbiball sounds better and means about the same. All offense and failing, mistakes on defence buts looks pretty.

Chelsea expect to appoint within days so makes sense. They'll have it wrapped up tomorrow or by Monday
Reckon TB & PB will actually be a little bit fuming on this one if so.
Think he's the one they've been working on and have had in mind for weeks / months, with Chelsea recent moves and Poch departure unexpected.
Just a feeling, other options not being nearly so attractive right now. Not over yet.

Being reported that Chelsea have made an official approach this evening. Not sure what to make of that other than Chelsea are continuing to hover round us like a bad smell and it's going to end in tears.
Why though?

That doesn’t describe our continuity planning at all imo.

Everyone is assuming McKenna is top of our list rather than a name relatively unknown to English football. From the way Brighton have done business over the years with scouting both managers and players, I honestly wouldn’t even be surprised if McKenna was just a stalking horse. PB and TB keep a very tight lip on who they are scouting - everything you hear beforehand are just sports rag rumours and media clickbait usually. I’m sure we have a continuity list of half a dozen young and up and coming talented managers that we have been following since RDZ first joined us. Who had heard of Roberto de Zerbi before he signed with us yet he was PBOBE and TB’s top choice?

Chelsea and other clubs can make all the ‘official approaches’ they like to who we are interested in - if McKenna’s head is going to be turned by Chelsea even before his first match in the EPL, then was he the manager for us anyway?

As I say, just personal feeling. I'd go as far to say that with the PB relationship and following his career, yes McKenna has been the man currently top of our list and someone we are / were relatively confident of landing having announced RDZ departure. Probably a bit early for this conversation, it may sound like bedwetting, I'm not

Tend to agree with you here but it appears much the same for any manager, money talks. As I say, not over yet.

My point is, we have no idea what managers are on PB/TB‘s continuity list or what preference order they are in nor what conversations/negotiations have been had/are ongoing. Only betting proposals based on educated guesses and media gossip.

Guess the theory is, 'Run Chelsea exactly like Brighton, except with more money'. Could work :)
Does seem to be the case. The fatal flaw being that the basis of Brighton’s approach is to spend money wisely and be patient. Paying way over the odds for raw teenagers & demanding they finish in the top 4 seems to be missing the point.

Which makes me wonder why we let Sam Jewell leave before the end of the season/summer transfer window. The deal was agreed so he could officially join Chelsea a couple of weeks ago (and take our secrets with him). Why not drag it out a bit longer?

Fair point. Things also looked quite different for the Albion in February, the differences weren't so apparent with DeZerbi.

Had Chelsea not heard of McKenna until Jewell mentioned him then?

There has been a fair amount of coverage in the press, what with the consecutive promotions and all.

If Chelsea fans are anti, that’s a big bonus. Going to a club where you’re not wanted from the off would be a very bad move, regardless of the pay cheque.
No, no no ..........it's a very good move (hush, hush).

Nah. Have heard nothing concrete yet. I still think RDZ to Chelsea is more concrete than McKenna to them
You are starting to sound like Dwayne Romano :lolol:

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt having been the first on here to call Potter to the Albion, I think
