Strauss hates him...move on.
What we need is the more yorkshire boys. We play proper cricket, rather than you soft shandy drinking, blouse wearing poofs!
Evening Mr Boycott.

The future does not look bright. The captain calling the Director of the ECB ' Straussy ' and the Director calling our No 4 Batsman c***.
Who out of Ballance, Bell or Root do you drop for a nearly 35 year old?
This is the most salient point. All three have a good test record, all three scored centuries in the last series. If Figjam were to come back, one of them would have to go. Really can't see it
And that's ignoring the fact that scoring runs against Leicestershire is the equivalent of banging in four goals against Tranmere Rovers
When did Piers Morgan play for England in the first place?
Who out of Ballance, Bell or Root do you drop for a nearly 35 year old? The bloke is odious and has stabbed most former colleagues in the back.
. KP opened the batting in ODI's in 2012 (not sure if he did in the test side?), given that is the vacant slot, I'd say **** it, lets see how he gets on opening. He might end up like Warner and change what it means to be in that role.
Evening Mr Boycott.
Great. We've just tried moving a middle-order batsman to opener and that was a complete disaster so let's try that again (and that's before we consider the idea of KP and Cook as openers - no easy chemistry there)
Well, you could put a for Cook for the past 3 years! A single century against the West Indies is hardly a return to form.
FYI, we just tried a guy with some mental health issues requiring his early retirement from international cricket - hardly a fair statement. We also tried a load of specialist openers who couldn't cut the mustard either (although I think they all suffered batting with a struggling Cook).
Australia had no problem looking at Watson to open while they were in a jam, and he didn't do too bad until Warner responding to Lehman's leadership. It isn't about whether a 'middle order' batsman can open, it's about whether a batsman is good enough to open.

Mourinho planned fort 5 contracts in the summer .... Knox their names
Think that's a bit harsh on Carberry and Compton - thought both were discarded too early (Robson clearly had technical issues). And Cook has a superb record for England, it was worth persevering with him.
Yes, fair point about Watson, he responded well. Warner was an opener though, he wasn't converted to one - and he was playing test cricket well before Lehman took over - although he's really kicked on under Boof
I only referred to Warner as taking over from Watson which is why Watson stopped opening. Warner is a unique opener though lets be fair. He plays aggressive in an almost middle order like bravado. There is very little of a traditional opener in him.
I wasn't harsh on Carberry or Compton - their achilles heal was the dreadful form of Cook. Had they come into an England side with an in form opener, it would have been a different story for them.
Cook as a great record for England up to the end of 2012. 2013 onward he has a poor record. He still bats like he is hanging on for dear life and every delivery is a hand grenade. I don't know what the answer is at this point. At least sticking KP for this summer means that if it goes tits up, you've got an automatic scapegoat - big positive on its own!
Yes, Warner is certainly a different type of opener. Don't think he's unique though - Sehwag and Gayle play the same way.
Carberry was second top scorer on the dreadful Ashes tour. He has a test match average of 28.75 after six games. To put that into perspective: Graham Gooch had an average of 32.12 after six games (against much easier opposition), so it's clearly not a shocking record.
I agree that Pietersen would shake things up a bit if he were to open but can't see Strauss taking the risk. He's not by nature one of life's gamblers

I gather Strauss has confirmed to KP this evening that he will not be selected for England again.
Can anyone give me a dummies guide on how to put snapshots of Tweet messages on here ?
