ENGLAND cricket management have hinted that WG Grace could be recalled to the international scene.

The former Gloucestershire batsman has not played for his country since dying in 1915.

But with England failing in Australia, the clamour is mounting for the bearded 167-year-old to make an unexpected return from the grave, possibly at the expense of Gary Ballance.

ECB chairman Colin Graves said: “Everybody knows the qualities that WG brings to any team he plays for. I don’t think the fact he is buried in a cemetery in Bromley should be any barrier to getting into the current England side.

“The deceased issue has been blown out of all proportion by the media.”

Piers Morgan, a long-time top mate of WG, took to Twitter to back the decomposed all-rounder: “Time to shed prejudice against dead. If you are good enough you are alive enough.”

I remember well when 2 seasons ago at the county ground it was announced that KP had been dropped from the England team and the members all cheered. No way would Sussex members want KP to play for the county.

So he's signed with Surrey then - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/32050337

I really hope he comes into county cricket and has 1,000 runs by May. He still won't get picked but it'll be funny watching Moores, Cook and the selectors squirm trying to justify it. I admire Pietersen's bravado in writing off an IPL contract to call the ECB's bluff but even he can't be so stupid as to think that he'd get picked again.

170 in 149 balls was a pretty reasonable start.
