How did still think that he could attempt to explain himself after the awful foul he committed in the Newcastle game yesterday?

Newcastle 0 - Everton 0

Easily one of the worst tackles I've seen this season. Hopefully he'll get a lengthy ban for that.

I think you'd struggle to find a worse challenge full stop. If the Everton player had a fracture like Eduardo's (which wouldn't have been at all surprising) Nolan would be hung drawn and quartered by the press because that was a far worse challenge. Late, two footed and over the top, 3 potential reasons individually to get a red but when combined it really should produce a longer ban, although we know the FA won't as he's already been sent off.

Wierd as although he may look like a thug and mouth off all the time I don't remember him doing anything like this before. And it wasn't like he had any reason for a 'retribution' tackle or anything, moment of madness that really could have ended in disaster

Normal viewing did not see it, but replay, OMG, got to be one of the worse tackle i have seen, two footed and no intention of going for the ball.

Also, when the sub was coming on i thought he was wearing a comedy wig, and though this is not time to larking around, then when he went on the pitch it dawned that it was his real hair.

Terrible reaction. I hope the ref refers to that in his report because the whole incident warrants something like a 5 or 6 match ban, not 3.

I like Kevin Nolan, he is an honest professional who wears his heart on his sleeve and has been my captain on FM many a time. That said, what a disgrace of a tackle, he should feel ashamed and he clearly does, I saw the game live and their camera caught him in the tunnel waiting to apologise profusely to Victor Anichebe when he came off. That's all he can do, and also be greatful he got lucky, he didn't break Anichebe's leg. If he had, he would have been this year's Martin Taylor!

Though, that tackle wasn't even as bad as some others you could mention. He was just unlucky, the bit of skill from Eduardo did him compeltely, Nolan is sort of in the same boat there, Anichebe nicked it away from him, and whack. Not excusing either tackle though, just to make my position absolutely clear.

Nolan jumped on his ankle, he is not in the same boat at all. His challenge is worse than Taylor's was.

I don't argue with that in the slightest, it was an utterly ridiculous tackle, and much worse than Taylor's be deffinition, it was 2 footed. It's not like he does it all the time though, Nolan, he's got this challenge wrong and it's disgraceful, I just hope people don't start labelling him as a dirty player.

I agree with most of what you say (although I do wish you'd write it in black like the rest of us) but to say a 'little bit of skill did him completely' is a bit far fetched. The Taylor tackle was mistimed and misjudged, the type that you see regularly when a players foot isn't planted and it's just a free kick and the player gets up again. This one was a shocker, there is absolutely no excuse ever for a player top be in this position when making a challenge.

And for the record I am someone who is always moaning about the lack of physicality in football nowadays. However this is well ott

Ok, I am silenced by that picture, it really does speak a thousand words. That's actually a brilliant picture btw, whoever took that should be proud.

It looks even worse in a still. Shocking, but let's not condemn the man for one tackle.

He's not though, is he. When can you remember him doing anything like that before? It's a bad tackle, but you need to try and keep it in perspective. I think so, anyway.

This one was in the Times... taken a fraction of a second later... and perhaps even more horrific... it's amazing that it didn't break his leg!

Obviously it's bad, I love how far away the ball seems there, it's almost like it's running away!...

It is amazing that leg didn't break, absolutely amazing. I suppose this is the advantage of being well built... Or just lucky. I like the technique from Nolan though, the arms out to balance him and everything.

I like Kevin Nolan a lot as a player, and he has never been malicious in the past, but that is a terrible challenge. It always puzzles me why players need to do this, its 0-0, a battling game, and he effectivly prevented Newcastle from perhaps winning that game or scoring at the very least.
As for Fellaini, i went to Everton a few weeks ago in the game against Hull, and a load of the everton fans had "Fellaini wigs" on, was brilliant! :clap2:

Was it was me or were the Newcastle fans booing Anichebe? Now I understand that watching the game live you might not realise how bad the tackle was but once he actually gets substituted because of it isn't that a clue that he wasn't faking?

Dirty scouse bastard. Should be banned for the rest of the season for such a horrific challenge.

Funny how it doesn't get nearly as much publicity as certain other challenges, perhaps because the victim's manager doesn't bang on about it continually to the press.
