Can't remember if I've told this story here before...

I went on honeymoon in Mombassa a couple of years ago. Wife and I got onto coach for transfer to hotel and the tour guide, a local Kenyan man, introduced himself as 'Peter'.

'I'm a very big fan of English football,' said Peter over the PA system. 'My assistant here, John - he supports Arsenal. Today's driver is Sam, and supports Manchester United. But I support the greatest football team in the world... Brighton and Hove Albion!'

My wife was, like, WTF?!

In truth, he didn't seem to know much about the club/current squad. I think he'd just seen the 1983 FA Cup final.

*.
I got married in kenya, just outside Mombassa. I gave a 96/97 away shirt to a local after he named the '83 cup final side, & he had a mate called John..........spooky!!

Never been but if it was good enough for her Madge and the Duke of nowhere many years ago I'm sure the place must be great.
not sure but I think it was where she was told of her fathers death and became unofficially our Queen.

Wonderful place, weve been there 3 times and are going again at the end of this year, can highly reccommend the "Voyager Beach Hotel ,Nyali. This is just north of Mombassa, We met many people who had been back to the voyager 3, times and more , some even 12 times, which speaks highly of the place, staff are out of this world, you wont find a better place. AND THEY SPECIALISE IN WEDDINGS, even planting a tree in your memory. If you want a Safari, I suggest that you arrange this with your travel agent, and do that first before you go to your beach resort, you will not regret it, a fabulous place

115 people died from hippo attacks in 2008. 16 of them were new brides.
They just don't have the regulations.
To a hippo , a bride in a wedding dress is seen as a canape.

I went to the Maldives for my honeymoon, perfect if you want a relaxing holiday in paradise after a stressful wedding!
I have also been to Kenya on a Safari then Beach holiday (Mombassa). Which is also beautiful, although extremely exhausting. Up at 5am some days with bouncy uncomfortable journeys between parks (up to 6 hours long)
Depends what type of honeymoon you want?
If you do go for a safari make sure you do a safari from Nairobi to Mombassa as you will see more animals compared to shorter safaris from your Mombassa hotel - these usually go to the nearest parks.
