Maconie does - or at least, did - turn up on a few too many list shows than good for his reputation. But he knows his music, and is a top presenter - his banter with Mark Radcliffe on late-night Radio 2 a few weeks ago was a joy to hear.

Radio 2 should sack the drunken frump Sarah Kennedy, she makes JoAnne Good sound professional...

Terry Wogan owns the company which employs his own agent, Sarah Kennedy's agent, and Ken Bruce's agent. Therefore, it's pretty much impossible for the Beeb to get rid of Bruce or Kennedy while Sir Tel is still there.

The BBC is the best broadcaster in the universe and we are very lucky to have it.
