If you had his injury (sickness) record at previous companies, you may well have been offered a day rate, just as he should have been on a pay-per-play.

I think that is for payments to pay up their contract once they have to retire. If they were to take a policy to recover money while a player is merely out with an injury, then the premiums would probably be prohibitive, especially for a player with the injury-record of Dyer.

So, you are injury prone and a company comes up and offers to pay you sick leave whereas another only agrees to pay you for the days you work. Which one are you going to work for?
