Best 25 quid I've spent this year

Finally we will now have an opposition to hold those in office to account, regardless of who wins in 2024 this is a good day for Britain in truly desperate times

I'm with you here. I think Corbyn would have acted sooner, and made better decisions, instead of the "dither and delay" we've been subjected to

With his legendary dithering over huge decisions like Brexit, what make you think he would have been any different with C19

Yes, but Boris was never defined as what was it 'metropolitan London Eton elite' by a large section of voters, to many people it was irrelevant where he went to school, whereas Starmer, Thornberry and Corbyn were seen as out of touch and living in a bubble by many, many Labour voters, particularly is the north and midlands.

This doesn’t make any sense. Why would one person be defined by elitism,, and the other not?

In reality nothing to do with this 'London metropolitan elite' and everything to do with whether Labour backed Brexit or not. It was just that London MPs were from remain constituencies, whereas northern constituencies voted leave. Now that is behind us, we'll see whether it makes a difference.

Is this really a role of a moderator?
Falsifying posts?

Give GB a wide berth, he was under criticism as a mod recently for not banning certain posters and has since gone into overdrive to prove his left wing credentials to the 'NSC vociferous elite'. Normally his posts are quite sane.

Editing posts without stating that you're doing so is completely not on.

Making it bleeding obvious that you've done so by stating "corrected for you" has been going on for nearly as long as NSC. But you knew that already.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
All the personality of a bag of spuds, and will be seen to be part of this 'metropolitan London elite' that Labour voters in the north so despise.

That's how some of the media have been portraying him, yet he is more working class than Corbyn who went to private school.
Angela Rayner as his deputy will do a lot to help win back the northern voters with her background.

Who knows who will shine as a leader in this current crisis?

I have not really seen much on the labour leadership (not that I've gone out of my way to find anything), so no idea how good this news is. But, have seen this on twitter:

It’s to do with perception. David Cameron, High Fearnley-Whittingstall, and Jacob Rees Mogg are old Etonians and, whether they like them or not, people tend to think of them as public school poshos and quite remote from “us”.

Tom Hiddleston, Bear Grylls, and - several decades earlier - Michael Bentine are/were also old Etonians, yet the general perception of them is that they’re more down to earth and like “us”.

It’s all about behaviour and attitude, I think.
