I know Blaney played against us at Withdean but I wasnt 100% sure whether he played for us at Withdean or at the end of Gillingham As you get older the years just seem to rush by and what seems like yesterday was some years ago and vice versa

This is very true - first Albion keeper I ever saw was Brian Powney. I can remember it like it was yesterday - and then I realise it was 42 years ago - quite staggering. My favourite at Withdean was definitely Dave Beasant, must have been ancient but still did a job.

As far as I can see Blayney never played against us at Withdean. Scott Flinders did though for Hartlepool a few years after is loan spell.

Blaney played for Doncaster after he left us and also 1 game for Oldham I thought that it was Oldham he played for against us but it was probably Doncaster.

Some things strike me about that list and from the accusations that theres a lot of shite on there. Firstly in my opinion Ben Roberts was the best keeper and but for injuries could have played at a decent level for many years (mind you it was because of his injuries that he ended up with us). Secondly in my opinion Henderson got much more stick than he deserved. Thirdly I agree with the point made regarding Beasant; plain to see he was quality. Once. Lastly (with a few exceptions e.g Smith) in my opinion theres isnt a load of shite on there, just averageness which was the same for a lot of players in all positions in the Withdean years.
And thats what made it great!
