This World Cup's come four years too early for most of these young players, most of whom are still trying to establish themselves in their club sides. Southgate talks a good game, but he has no idea of the feeling back home, he's just bluffing it. Even so, if Southgate keeps faith in this group of players, and the FA keeps faith in Southgate, you might just about have something a bit special going on in four years time.

Speaking as a neutral, I'd say the very worst outcome this time around would be muppet redtop media or thick-eared social media crucifying Southgate or one of his young players for some kind of easy-to-see-in-hindsight error. Because none of them deserve that.

By how much is this world cup too early for Scotchland?

Oh and when has anyone from Scotchland been neutral when the word 'England' is mentioned?

Jeez! Try and take the neutral stance for once and offer a bit of possibly realistic analysis and even show a rare bit of empathy for the current England set-up and there's always some muppet chucking the Scotland thing in your face, like Harry Kane wasn't a sub-Bale-one-man team.

Oh well, all good fun :timmy:

Bet the Belgiumists wished they'd tried as hard as England to lose.

Another 20 years should do it.

With all this excitement as a Scottish neutral and with no Murray at Wimbledon to take his mind off things, Tom could probably use a lie-down.

Dare I say, that seemed quite 'easy'.

I think if you were writing a film from England's perspective, we'd be heading for a World Cup final against Belgium in a return fixture from the final group stage, this time both teams play their strongest players, and given the abuse suffered, Sterling wins the game for us with a match winning performance and goals.
