Keegan About to Walk Out on Newcastle

Keegan walking out on Newcastle is one of the more predictable of stories, but this time can you really blame him? When Milner moves sideways to Villa to advance his career you have to wonder what the hell's going on. Mike Ashley is managing to make the shambolic duo of Freddie Shepherd and Douglas Hall look good by comparison.

As a football fan I think it's a shame that a team that should, by rights, be taking points off the Top 4 and making the Premiership title race interesting are now likely to wallow in the lower half of the table for the rest of the season.

Basically whover gets the most points from the 2 Chelsea - Man Utd head-to-head games are likely to win the league. It's looking like an English version of the Old Firm.

Both Newcastle and Keegan are a bit of a joke imho. They deserved each other. I'm only surprised KK lasted as long as he did.

I do believe Mr Ashley was wearing a newcastle shirt on Saturday with 'King Kev' spashed across the back. That hardly suggests a sacking does it?

Ashley is a fan and therefore a rubbish owner... because he thinks with his heart not his head.

Think Keegan has done quite well but has been badly let down by the club and its failure to bring in players.

Kevin Keegan's reign at Newcastle has come to an abrupt end after meetings with club owner Mike Ashley today, according to Guardian sources.

After making his unhappiness with the club's failure to sign three or four major targets this summer known, speculation mounted about Keegan's future this morning when bookmakers stopped taking bets on whether he would be the first manager to be sacked this season. Newcastle's only transfer activity on deadline day was the signing of Spanish striker Xisco and the loan capture of midfielder Ignacio Gonzalez.

Keegan was summoned to talks with Ashley this morning and did not take training. Keegan had been embarrassed by the sale of James Milner to Aston Villa for £12m after he claimed the midfielder would not be leaving.

Dennis Wise, the club's executive director of football and a rumoured thorn in Keegan's side, has already been touted as a potential successor, though former Inter manager Roberto Mancini's name has also been mentioned.

The 57-year-old was appointed Newcastle manager for a second time on January 16 after the sacking of Sam Allardyce. He first managed the club from 1992 before going on to manage Fulham, England and Manchester City.

I thought it was down to Milner being 'nanuphobic' (a fear of people who are an abnormally small size)?

Are you sure? I thought nanuphobic referred to a fear of people who had an irrational hatred of Taxi drivers!
