Which I suppose stealing someone else's husband pre-Apprentice was part of as well. She was, is and always has been a ****. I'm delighted that her downfall has been entirely self-inflicted.
How did that rancid witch manage to nick another woman's bloke? She's foul (personality and looks). Zero redeeming features.

I can only imagine that he is also a complete ****.

Her big gob has finally landed her in it, by leaving her virtually skint.
I don't understand how she's virtually skint. She sold her house for £950k (not sure if it was the only place she owned, I doubt it), and has had do pay about £131k for this case. I imagine she also had significant savings.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Massive mortgage?

Fact is, if she could pay her debts without resorting to an IVA then she wouldn't be able to do an IVA. So there's clearly more to it than meets the eye.

My guess is that she was mortgaged to the hilt and was struggling financially before this, after losing most of her income (Mail job etc).

She strikes me as the sort of person who would be boasting about her £1m house when she actually had hardly any equity in it and was relying on maintaing her current circumstances to service the debt (while stupidly risking said circumstances by constantly being a ****).

She's been earning so much money, I can't see how she's close to bankruptcy. I imagine she's just trying to protect her assets.

She's been in a home for years, with house prices rising, I can't see how she hasn't had plenty of equity in the home.

Check the link though Trig. You can't do an IVA if you actually have the money/equity to pay your debts. I know people who have done them. It doesn't work like that.

Yeah, so you sell your home, move the money, and when it's time to pay your debts you say you're skint.

Although I haven't had the need to do this myself, I'm not guessing. Aren't you an accountant coolJ? There are people who specialise in helping with this sort of thing. It's all very dodgy.

I am an accountant yes but despite the bad press, the vast majority of us aren't involved in dodgy schemes to help the rich pay no tax.

I'm sure someone could come up with something creative in a situation like this but it would be dodgy as ****.

Hopefully this is the case and the next thing Hopkins can look forward to is a letter/visit from HMRC and another trip to court.

I think it's more likely that she's actually in the shit. Either way, her credit rating is now screwed for a few years.

We're obviously not talking about tax, and it's more of a lawyer thing than accountant, but I thought you'd probably know about this sort of thing. Have you not noticed how many famous people seem to go bankrupt while still living in exceedingly expensive houses, and continuing to have expensive holidays?

It doesn't really need to be creative, but yes, dodgy.

It's not to do with HMRC, unless they're who you owe money to.

It would need to be creative, otherwise it would be blatantly illegal to say that you didn't have the money/equity to pay your debts and to qualify for (and have creditors agree to) an IVA.

Shifting assets/money could well interest HMRC as you can't just move them to someone else without incurring a capital gain (in most cases).

Think the human cost is just hitting home to Jack Monroe, she seems genuinely remorseful. Well for KH's kids at least. Still, couldn't happen to a nastier piece of work. Apart from maybe Donald Trump. If only his tweets had such a happy ending.
Remorseful ?

No just showing empathy, which Hopkins is completely devoid of.

Nice to see the British version of alt right light being completely destroyed.

It's utterly incompatible with this country irrespective of your politics.

So, now she's been taken out, who's the next bogeyman/woman that we can all vent moral outrage upon to advance our own sense of worthiness ?

It could possibly be her lawyers from her libel court case have got all her money, I know when she lost, her appeal application was refused, a shame really, if she’d have lost the appeal as well, think of her costs then.
