Both very fine vocalists, but very, very different. Apart from having some of the same personnel, the two bands were very different too, making comparisons even more difficult.

They seem to be coping okay with Serge as frontman - albeit with The Music's Robert Harvey on backing vocals.

Syd Barrett's departure and David Gilmour joining Pink Floyd didn't do them much harm either.

Anyone willing to discount Floyd post Barrett is a damned fool. Both examples and the commercial success they went on to achieve prove Tom spectacularly wrong.

Genesis, never my cup of tea in any incarnation but were clearly more successful without Gabriel.
