Majority Spurs owner Joe Lewis has told Levy that if Kane refuses to sign a new contract, he must be sold this summer as this is the club’s last opportunity to receive a fee. Manure are long time admirers, but are restricted by FFP after huge spending in recent windows, whilst Kane’s wife has reportedly been house hunting in Munich.

Bavaria is beautiful and this a chance to win silverware, he’s 30 next week, it seems like a no-brainer to me. The downside is that he’ll fall short of the 14 more prolific scorers he aimed to overtake.

I know NSC hates him but surely even the pettiest of detractors has to admit that they're impressive stats. 15th on the all time list and with the 4th best goals to game ratio.

I want him to go to Bayern because I think it will help prolong his England career and (probably...) stop him from scoring against us. However, looking at that chart if Man united came in for him I reckon he'd go there. Greaves is probably to far ahead but Dixie Dean is reachable. The chance to win trophies at united AND become the premier league all time top scorer AND second in the ll time top flight scoring charts is probably too much to turn down.

Intersting, and quite a lot of players I have never heard of..Gordon Hodgson?

I always liked Cottee, he seemed a decent hard working professional and made the most of his ability. I believe he also has the distinction of playing in every professional league (i.e. EPL, Championship, L1 and 2) in a single season.
And even fewer who have gone on to be successful managers. Cottee, if memory serves, got Barnet relegated out of the football league.

If he joined Bayern he's pretty much guaranteed trophies, more so than joining United. Surely this trumps the possibility of being 2nd in the all time top flight scoring table? Most of us were surprised by most of the entries in this list....which shows how much interest and attention it gets. I mean, who thinks of Shearer as the 4th highest scorer? Many more things come to mind first.

Englands record goal scorer going to Germany of all countries . You couldn’t make it up . Won’t even get a suntan and a decent diet . Terrible stodgy heavy red meat food there . Far better off in Italy or Spain much nicer environment.

It's so weird with Kane because he is OBVIOUSLY insanely good. That just can't be questioned. You don't fluke the goals he has, in poor teams, season after season and become your national teams top scorer. Here is a guy who has clearly worked over and over again on maximising what he has and I absolutely accept that he's brilliant but.....

I can't tell you what he's amazing at. It's so weird.

I saw prime Owen, Henry, Ronaldo, Haaland etc. I could tell you what their skillset was and why they would score so many.

With Kane I sit there and say to myself
"Is he quick? Absolutely not"
"Is he THAT tall? not really"
"Is he skillful? Nope"
"Does he goal hang? No. He drops back all the time"
"Does he cut in from a wide position like Henry etc?" Nah.

It basically comes down to "The ball just seems to always find him and he doesn't miss".

Obviously, it's an amazing skill to have and isn't fluked, but I guess the videogame-impacted child in me can't handle that "standing in the right place" isn't that quantative a measure.

As I say, not a criticism of him, it's clearly on me. I personally hope he stays in the PL and gets the goal record. Seems a nice guy, works hard, has only really pushed to leave a rubbish team once before and that only went silly because he let his brother be his agent.

Idiotic comment. But I may have missed irony. Germany is a fantastic country with great people and great food as well.

I don't like him, he is incredibly annoying but I have to admit he's a brilliant striker.

I can tell you what he does better than nearly anyone who's ever played the game and it's something I always marvel at - ball striking. Through years of practise he knows exactly how and when to hit the ball, it is a really under rated skill and doesn't get talked about as much as pace or skill etc. That is why he gets so many goals, you can almost guarantee he will hit the target from wherever he is. He is intelligent enough to find a little bit of space and then get his shot off in really limited time and because of that worked on ability to strike the ball in a way that maximises his chance of scoring, he usually does!

Hope he goes to Bayern. Always like it when English players move abroad and in his case, it means we don't have to face him again and I don't need to get riled every time we do!

I think you'll find that Germany has moved on from the Weimar Republic and long since waved good bye to the reparations diet.

We were in Division One in the early 80s when he played for WHU, you may be right but something tells me that he did score against us regularly when we played them, I could easily be wrong though.
He only played eight times (scoring five goals) while we were in the first division (making his debut in January '83) - so he may have played/scored against us in the first division, but no more than once.

I’ll drive him to the airport if it becomes a sticking point in negotiations.

It would be interesting to see how this affects Spurs fortunes next season, and whether he’s had as much impact as it appears.
Could see it working out well for them. They've built the entire team around him and his qualities for years and now they're going to have to do something else and more players will feel that they are important and could make an impact. The whole "oh, Harry had a pretty bad game meaning there was not a chance in hell Spurs could win"-thing is not very healthy.

It worked fine for Kevin Keegan! Although at the start rather than the end of his career, it was pretty handy for Jude Bellingham too.

Serious comment now.

I have watched Kane countless times on TV with my old pal Bob the retired Liverpudlian social worker. Bob thinks Kane is 'rubbish', and often says so just after he has scored, and always says so after he scores against Liverpool. He has called Kane rubbish countess times.

OK, cards on the table. The only player I have ever viscerally disliked is Norman Whiteside. When he had to retire early I rejoiced. The ****.
I don't really mind Zaha. Even Scott McGleish was quite amusing in the end (I remember him deliberately standing near the Brighton supporters to do his warming up exercises, away at Colchester, towards the end of his 'career').

Kane doesn't even figure on my list of players I dislike. OK, he stole a penalty against us, and scored in the daylight robbery match. So what?

So, stepping back from all that, what do we have? We have an amazing player. His passing from midfield is fabulous. He skips over challenges like Zamora did - but that was in tier 4. And he is there when it counts, scoring goals. He has the worst goal celebration since Robbie Keane (must be a Spuds thing). He has a speech impediment (My guess is a repaired cleft palate but I can't even be bothered to look it up). He answers every question with "no, yeah" or "yeah, no". He does not have lovely hair. Yep, he brings out the bully in people I suspect.

For me, then, an absolute football legend and icon. Spuds would be mad to not give him a massive new contract because he has no pace to lose. And if I were Kane I would deffo angle a move to Bavaria. Spuds fans need to take note that soon Kane's motto will be Ich bin keine Kartoffel mehr.

Levy must be fuming - Joe Lewis has completely undermined his negotiations, surely? If Bayern are preparing a new bid, maybe they should drop it by £10M or so because he must be sold. Levy no longer has the option to say. "Pay the price or he just stays with us". If there's only one bid on the table ...................

I disagree I think Kane is tremendously skilful and he offers a team much more than simple tap ins. Kane's football intelligence is off the chart, his ability to find space where others do not is second to none, combine that with a sure finishing technique and you have all the skill you need. In addition to that he also links up with his teammates so well, he consistently picks out absolutely superb passes from midfield and he is very accurate with them.

I think you'll struggle to find as well rounded a striker anywhere.

it's just a shame that all this talent is overshadowed by the fact that is he is such a colossal cheat.

For his sake I hope he can finally escape Spurs, he owes them absolutely nothing. They have wasted his talent.

It’ll be a hidden fuming. Lewis turned Levy into a (on paper) billionaire.
