I think that is an excellent point. How many more cases are going to come out where a senior churchman knew of wrongdoing and knew it was hushed up? They only ever apologise and say they made an 'error of judgement' when they've been found out*. Let's lance the boil now and get it all out in the open.
* Not that senior C of E figures are unique in that respect of course.
EDIT: Obviously they won't say anything. They'll cite ongoing investigations, unfair to name names, nothing proven, hearsay, and, er, GDPR.
